Longs Quest ... gotta agree.. we like the way it turns out in the dutch oven if not done too hot .. we like the way it browns up and the way the veggies taste when it's all done...so good. Great left overs too. lol Thanks for watching Glenn & Maureen

@@cabinlife2347 We started using the camp dutch oven back when we started camping in our popup camper. We found we could git our coals going, load up the dutch oven and go on an adventure. Was always nice to come back to a hot, 1 pot meal..

I can smell that from here! Looks so good. Good point about the cheaper cuts too, I guess you could also use a slow cooker to get the tenderness (that's my go-to appliance for easy meals!).

CB, slow cooker is a great tool and uses less than a kilowatt to cook a meal, We also like a pressure cooker throw it all in and in 15 mins you have dinner with all the nutrients still locked into all the ingredients.

Yummy looking meal. Cooking lo and slow eh. Interesting how you put hot coals on the lid. Good comfort food.
@cabinlife23474 жыл бұрын
Fran W ... yep low n slow .. is key. We forgot to show the turning of the pot and lid every once in a while for more even cooking. The coals on top help create a convection type heat inside the dutch oven. The meal was tasty, and the meat was so tender. perfect really. Thanks for watching. G&M

Nice! I also purchase cheap cut of meat. But what I do is cook it in a pressure cooker for around 20 minutes then Brown off over the fire, it is a great way to tenderize cheap meat. I often cook in a Dutch oven over a fire, but having to rotate the pan clocksiwe every 30 minutes and the lid anti clock wise at the same time (For allegedly even cooking) requires me to sit by the fire with a glass of wine and closely monitor the cooking process :) After 3 days of work my large Veg and Herb gardens are now planted. Stafe safe Both.
@cabinlife23474 жыл бұрын
Chris Hawkesford.. that sounds good. Yeah, the turning of the pot and the lid every 20 min or so... we do that too... but forgot to show it on cam.. that's important apparently for even cooking. Glad you got your garden planted. May it have just the right amount of sunshine and rain. Thanks for watching.

Another Real true to life production, not everyone can go to the local butcher and spend $40 a cut on something to show off on camera. I think I'm starting to figure out the watchers of youtube as I'm kind of new to this subscribing and getting to know who is who. The real down to earth and salt of the land seem to subscribe to Yours and others channels because it is just like they live everyday. No fancy video tricks or a camera view looking one direction hiding what is behind that camera for a full 360. Then there are those who pretend through life Who watch that type of glorified existence without a thought of "Hey this doesn't seem Real" like turning on Discovery to watch a scripted entertainment lifestyle. Allot of people live in a self made disillusioned life and never renew or step outside that bubble. I think it is because the Reality of their situation is so hard to face and come to grips with that they actually watch the same BS they live. We are all slaves to the system that entraps Us to live, eat, think and do what ever they feed Us but the very few like Yous, Doug and Stacy, Josh and Erin, Kevin and Sara, Jeremy and Ashley, Stacy all on her own and most of who I've subscribed to have had the best of the best INFORMATIVE and some funny entertainment but more important true to life of what they are Actually Living. A simple self chosen life that most are too afraid to attempt or others just too lazy to give something outside their comfort zone a try. So many mortgaged to the hilt, 2 months from bankruptcy or just chained to all the debt they were told was the American dream. The only true dream You have in Reality is the one you truly make yourself, the rest is just a money making sales pitch geared to control your every move thought and direction. So Stop Pretending, Think of Who You Are Watching and Wake Up Before The Only Thing Pointing Up Is YOUR TOES!! CHEERS, YES a long one but again painfully glued to this chair again but tomorrows another day.................

@Robin the best thing to do is rent a off grid cabin or small house and see if it fits for you. Many think it is like some of these glorified romantic sites that shoot so much BS and it can be for a $50,000 system but within the confines of most peoples budget it is not. It takes a full life change to live this way and if you try and mix both ends of life it won't be anything you dreamed. Doug and Stacy are living it but even their cabin is smaller than most could endure over a long timeline, they have branched out with the summer kitchen and learning center but they are the basic type of humans that realized this dream everyone is running at is a false set up to keep society paying at every turn. Off grid is sometimes allot more work than most let on and others just easily lie misleading others. It's hard to put into words the real experience of living on a shoestring but the rewards for that effort are ten fold. I doubt 90% of the dreamers could stay the course and like I've mentioned before on these videos We have seen normal feet planted people run from the woods like the devil himself is chasing them. Off grid real living isn't romantic, it isn't pretending, it is real hard work and good planning to exist this lifestyle. Your daughter must be wise beyond her years, must have had some encouraging upbringing. Cheers
