A couple of questions about the build: 1. I can't remember if I asked this last week or not, but did you consider raising the roof 2 feet so that you can stand inside? 2. I assume that you are taking a generator along. Will you be placing a weatherproof outlet outside so that you can plug the generator in, and power some outlets? I'm thinking in case the weather is bad and the solar isn't charging enough, or there's high winds and deploying the panels is risky. 3. Are you doing the wrap-around awning so Kenz's Corner is outside?? 🤣🤣🤣 4. Future project question. When will you do the barn so that you can have a proper workshop at home, and you don't have to work outside? It obviously has to be big enough and high enough for you to do things like work on the RV or the trailer or the car. All the best!!

I really like this project as its very interesting to know how your going to do work up in the mountains and by seeing what you guys are doing with that trailer makes total sense. It's portable, big enough for all the tools and building equipment you need and solar power generating which allows you to work anywhere on the property. What a great idea to reperpose something that might just stayed parked up for years getting rusty, rotten. Love the idea.

Hello. I follow with great joy. And patiently waiting for your new film. That's one thing that got me interested. A very quirky thing that I would love to buy. And it is in your latest film when you fix the car trailer with solar cells. What I fell for were the electric pistons that you bought. I don't know what they are called and where I found them. Where did you buy them? And what are they called? I myself live in Sweden. Thanks for reply. Kaj Rolfsson
@old-wise-one447311 күн бұрын
Spencer - I would add a DC take off so you can plug the panels into your homes set. If I remember correctly you had a tough time one year which is when you added the additional panels. Having a way to collect more sunlight when it’s cold or when the heat is high you need AC could be useful.
@valfunk466911 күн бұрын

Run some unistrut front to back , There's a lot of stress on the thin top and sides. Adding some unistrut length ways on top and on the sides, will help sand which and spread the load/stress. I'm also hoping you are gonna caulk the bolts. Oh and wondering what type of tie down system you are gonna use? I can already tell, thi is going to be a really nice mobil work station.
@willlyons56911 күн бұрын
A word of caution how you connect all of the panels together. Just like shade, the least producing panel will cause a reduced output on the other panels. Best way is to have 2 strings. One for the four pointing in the same direction and another for the 2 that are independent

Interesting build as usual. If you guys are interested in getting a little more clearance under the carport, there is another way to brace it without having the braces running low from one side to the other. The people who built my carport offered a different option. You can put shorter stainless steel braces near the top leg posts to the rafters at an angle then from one side of the rafters to the other just under the peak. That type of bracing allows me to get taller vehicles under the carport and it shouldn't be a difficult modification.

Have you considered wind loading/gusting when in the deployed position! Expensive lesson on my end with a “deployed” 550W panel - even though I had designed and installed for wind gusts! Just so happened a “dust devil” went through and lifted the panel to over-extension and destroyed it!!! Hopefully you’ve over-engineered as you often have so it doesn’t become an issue for you!! All the best, keep the builds coming, be safe!

Looking good Spencer ! A portable potty, add a TV and microwave plus fridge ? You'll really be ready to support "work" he he ! I bet you could sell a few of these to contractor's in your area too !
