Cement is an ingredient of concrete. Concrete has gravel or crushed stone, water and cement, some sand is also added to the mixture.
@SeanBlader
@SeanBlader 3 жыл бұрын
Came here to suggest this. Also if it says "Cement Mix" it's technically some kind of concrete, with the gravel, crushed stone, sand (all of which are called aggregates) already included. Fun note, depending on the application your aggregate can be something other can gravel or sand, in the case of "Low Density Concrete" or Aircrete, it can be styrofoam beads. Lastly, since you have cement in your hyper-adobe bag mix you could technically call your the structure a concrete structure.

One of my pet peeves, when people call concrete “cement”. It’s like calling cake mix “flour”. Thanks for pointing out the difference between cement and concrete. By the way, air is also considered an ingredient of concrete, especially in northern climates where concrete must have air to deal with freeze thaw cycles.

Perhaps a trough at the base of the panels to collect some rain run-off for your rain harvesting? After all, it's a nice surface for rain to hit, drain, and become useful for y'all. Good work on the array---that sucker isn't going anywhere no matter what winds come up. . . .well, it may become airborne, but if it does---it's the end of the world!!!

I don't think you'll have any shortage of power when it's all done! 🤠 It is funny coming from back east to AZ just how much you get used to the lack of humidity. 70-90% was the norm back there for much of the year, and now at 20%, I'm dying! lol Acclimatization is a real thing! Thankful we all got some much-needed rain just the same! Looking good guys and gals!

So any rebar? Mixing by hand, that is so tough. Cool, cattle panel shaded chicks! Nice! The rainbow was beautiful! I'm so glad to see that the kids are helping mix the concrete with you! Nine nine has to be there right with you, so cute. Beautiful sunset. Nice chick set up! Cats are interested. Using hoes to mix the concrete looks a lot easier than shovels! I'll have to remember that.We just poured a little pad for our heating oil tank. That looks way easier. Lizard supervisor. Yay, finished with concrete! Cute goats! Fog! Thanks for explaining how each panel gets installed. So that must be why there are so many UFO sightings in Arizona, because of all the solar arrays! Nine nine found some shade. Wow, look at those clouds form! Use a piece of steel pipe over the end of the ratchet. You got it! Nice chin ups! Beautiful solar panel array! You guys work so well together. This was a joy to watch, thanks.

Hi, A couple of things 1) What an excellent team effort from you and all of the kids, even little Ada took a turn with the hoe to mix concrete, and Adali has really stepped up, seemingly more consistently and regularly helping the twp of you. 2) I do not think you can go too big for a solar array, there are six of you living in the desert, you need all the power you can get. Keep up the great work

Here in the midwest you can dump the bags of quickcrete directly in the hole, spray thehole with water and your done. The concrete absorbs the water and sets up just fine. You're in a more arid climate though but I imagine just adding more water would solve that problem.

It's a bit late to say this, so for future reference, if you have problems with the holes you dig getting too big when setting poles for cementing, you can buy those cardboard tubes and put them in the holes before the poles. They will help keep the amount of concrete needed lower. Once the concrete is in, you can backfill the hole.

A little taller and it might have been a great water collector. Now if you build a mirror match shed to go behind it, and give it skirts at the low ends, it'll be more arrow dynamic which will give you a shed and a lot less chance of it blowing away. Concrete is a combination of rock and cement and water, Morter is cement with nothing but water added to it, although sometimes sand is added to make it go further and give it more body.
