OFF GRID WILDERNESS LIVING // What We Feed Our Dogs | GARDENING WITH BEARS | Falling Trees - Ep. 87 • OFF GRID WILDERNESS LI...
This week Jake and Nicole try to survive alone in the Canadian Wilderness with their Boat, Yurt, Cats, and Dogs. In this episode we show you what we feed our dogs as we attempt to catch, grow, forage, and provide 100% our own food and get off the food grid. We are attempting to live fully off the grid especially with electricity, food, shelter, and water. This time is especially tough not only because of the survival aspect of our life in the Canadian Rainforest but more-so because of the lack of socializing with friends and family (especially now thanks to travel restrictions due to Corona Virus and Covid-19. Bears are out of Hibernation and we hope to install a hippie hot tub, log cabin washroom, solar panel and battery system, food cellar, guest cabin, sauna, smokehouse, and more all this summer! Join us and please comment below this video a question or remark!

@WeAreTheResistance We Are The Resistance You really do need a Girlfriend, Boyfriend, or something constructive in your life. You been hounding me for to long now, so my curiosity had me wondering if you happened to be doing the same to other's. I have to say, you haven't disappointed me. You really don't have a life, do you. That is really sad. Scary even, as someone can say that You are being creepy by how much you are stalking them.🤔😲😑

Tip from a tow truck driver...a small 1500lb say snatch block will double your pull capacity with no extra power. Chain off to another tree and you can direct the fall towards the snatch block rather than the vehicle.

Like seriously guys if you don't like it just leave without the negative comments there is no need for it unless you're starving for attention lol Keep up the fantastic work Jake and Nicole, you're community will grow from the love of what you do and share with us all. Greater knowledge is shared among all. Peace and Love.

I understand, but giving thoses incredibles seafood to DOGS!!! A clam linguine in a honest restaurant would cost minimum 25$... Theses guys are seems to be internet-vloguer-expert, not some random «i built a cabin this is how» , as such they are creating an audience...
@Pixi_Playa
@Pixi_Playa 4 жыл бұрын
@@saticharlie so what they feed their dogs is not up to your standards? They are their dogs they arent feeding them commercial pet crap but food with sustenance, vitamins and minerals from around their surroundings. I think it's great it opens up the eyes to new possibilities for our beloved extended furry families.
@saticharlie
@saticharlie 4 жыл бұрын
@@Pixi_Playa Don't you read? I admit english is a second langage. I'm saying THEY should be eating those shellfish. I don't care at all about the leftover if they give some to the dog. But there is something really ideological about going to fish and show how smart your dog are if you don't eat what is probably the best seafood, but still eat a «vegan» diet mostly done with industrial practice... Then don't be surprise if around the world, people who consider that food as the BEST food, can't believe they give it to the dog while the youtuber themselves eat avocado. The go around, foraging wild shives, and dont make the best of what they fish? I told you that a plate in an honest restaurant with thoses shell would cost 25$... where do you go with your «standard»? I'm just saying don't talk to me about «adding values » when you cut trees if you don't eat what you fish. Don't talk (or make a movie) about « ethical way to live » ). At least, the critic is then wall deserve : Jake's other chanel is «Vegan athlete». By the way, our bad comment help the channel....

I was binge watching too...but then I realized...this 38 year old man manipulated a beautiful young woman into living HIS dream...he even puts guilt trips on her when she tries to visit her family "I cant sleep when your not here." Then...this is what made me realize he cares way more for himself and his god Nature...he made her pee and use woman menses products out in the open for a year and a half....in the beginning there was going to be a bathroom close to the yurt...now he finally gave her privacy but she has to walk so far away to change a damn pad in the middle of the night. What man who puts his woman first would treat a young girl who sacrificed everything she knew and loved to follow him and his dream like that???? I'm not saying he is a bad man. I truly think he loves her as much as he is capable of loving her...but his outdoor WOK came before her womanly hygiene NEEDS....it speaks all I need to know and tarnished my view of everything they are doing. I may start watching again to see if he starts putting her and her dreams before his own. I got HOOKED on a different channel...wild wonderful off grid. Now that is a couple who are truly on the same page and who each put the other first. Jake has some growing to do...and I'm not saying I'm perfect...but I didnt put my life on video for all to see and pick apart...so there you go lol. I truly am not trying to be mean or troll or whatever. I'm in my 50's and as you age you start seeing things about people you didnt see before. It's the small things we do for each other that matter. When he is sick in bed his out door WOK wont stand by his bedside. His forest and mushrooms wont be holding his hand....its our relationships to humans that matter and so far he puts her last and I DONT like that.

Nicole, “Trees are no joke”, absolutely true. Buddy of mine, alone, in suburb of Wash. DC, with chainsaw, removing a tree across his backyard fence. It was leaning and in a bind he couldn’t see. When he made his final cut, the tree swung free, smashed him off his ladder. The smack of the tree and fall off his ladder to his yard knocked him unconscious, broke several ribs and his hip. Thank God the running chainsaw flew away. He was alone, unconscious, laying broken in his backyard. When he came to, luckily his phone was in his blue jeans. He called called and got help. Lesson: Always cut trees as a team, never alone. Well done with your garden and protective fence, good for bear, dear, moose and other critters? Heh, heh... Just coming back to you guys after a while away. Good to see how you are progressing and maturing in your efforts to support yourselves, i.e., feeding the dogs, YEA! I suppose you have considered a gill net for fish, cheap, easy, also a trot line, cheap and easy. You live in an ideal spot for both. Anyway I want to send a pat on the back to you both for your hard smart work. Texas

just a little advice, notch the tree in the direction you want it to fall. (be sure to walk around it) go a little less than 1/2 way thru it, then the back cut angle down to the point of the notch. and it will fall wherever you point it.

Angel back cut is not good practice. Your cuts look good Jake. Keep your back cut level and a little higher then the notch and leave parallel holding wood. Do NOT cut through the holding wood. Coming from a trained forestry faller

We've had issues with bears getting into our garden,. We ran 3 strands of electric fence and put foil baited with peanut butter to draw the bears in so they will get zapped and learn they don't want to be there. Also, you might consider a solar fence charger. We've had ours for almost 10 years and it hasn't skipped a beat.

hello, You want to fell trees get rid of the ladder. get a beanbag 12 or 14 oz okay it comes with a 150 foot of string. what you do is throw the beanbag up and over a branch. if you do it right you can get it up 70 feet. after it goes over the branch it comes down. DONT CUT THE STRING use a inline cove hitch TIE THE STRING ON YOUR rope. Than pull the beanbag side and run the heavy rope up and over the branch. when you have the rope down to the ground tie a running bowline send it up the tree. The higher you tie your rope the more control you have and can make that tree do what you want. tie to close to the bottom means you have to pull harder that can snap rope and hurt you really bad or kill you.

@@2observant it is actually @WeAreTheResistance We Are The Resistance is the one that knows it all, and can tell that they are liars, as it is obviously all a Fake. Obviously everything that this couple is lie as he/she's comments are negative, but is "Always, commenting on what is posted." Including going around calling anyone that is positive a secret Jake or Nicole extra secret channel. I am really impressed by the knowledge this individual has. Must be a high level of intelligence, how else would this person know so much about this couple. Since he/she can calorie count and probably knows what conspiracy this couple is up to too. I am usually not a Negative reacted person, so I Apologize for that, sincerely. 😀

Wife just discovered you guys while I was watching your latest. She noticed your bug nets and wanted me to tell you when she lived in the Philippines they kept fire smoldering and the smoke keeps the bugs away.

When falling trees I think it is better to face the notch downward instead of the way you did it. Also logger pants are recommended especially that far from a clinic. I have put the saw into my leg and had to drive to town myself. likely i did not hit any arterays only fat. The back cut should be no higher than an inch above the initial cut when facing the notch downward. do not cut all the way through. Leave the hinge . Stay safe

mym that is called a Humbolt cut. The butt of the tree will hit the ground first. It will sometimes break the tree toward the top.

What about the cold water they constantly travel in with the inflatable ? If they ever had an accident with the inflatable they never wear lifevest and if they had to swim to shore they wouldn't be able to.make it . I can't believe they don't wear survival suits whenever they're in the inflatable

Robert Prout I have similar thoughts and also for the dogs. They should be able to have the same advantage, even thinking if they were to help float someone else. I feel that it is neglectful and irresponsible. Accidents are not planned.

Enjoy watching how you build and create your own food. The garden is looking great. You do have the best dogs in the world. I had a Blue Heeler (Bandit) who lived 16.5 years. He taught me so much. I actually married my wife be for many reasons but one of the deciding factors was when she first meet Bandit she got down on the floor to play with him. He was my best friend. When Kai and his brother are in your videos I’m usually watching them unless a tree is randomly falling in the forrest. Lol. It’s very peaceful and relaxing watching your videos. I hope to become a Patron soon. After economy picks up. I’m going to send y’all an aluminum hand truck to haul stuff around on. I’m a professional mover of household goods.

Living Off Grid w/ Jake & Nicole. Would you prefer solid tires or pneumatic? Solid-no flats Pneumatic-absorbs the bumps better. Let me know. You will need to assemble but it is easy.

Hope the kitties get some seafood as they are true carnivores. Gotta say Jake you ARE my favorite person to watch do chores and build stuff! You know, cats do what they want when they want unless they r food motivated. Great scenery just lovely, waters, forest, garden beds, sweet animals...looks like a joy~filled life, with some welcomed hurtles. Enjoy! Thanks for filming!
