This song is really great. Hits home really hard. It took me thinking someone I really loved and admired was calling out to me for me to finally leave a marriage I felt trapped in, this past year. I had tried, so many times, but was too weak to. I had just masked my misery for years with work and drugs. I’m afraid it just turned out to be all in my head, and still is, admittedly, but it doesn’t change the fact that she really did rescue me. It woke me up to how depressed and settled I had become, because there’s no one I’ve ever loved and admired as much as her and sadly, I had none of those for my ex. I proceeded to tell her how much she meant to me, but it was too late, I guess. I had blown my chance, years ago. I had told her I would wait for her, but I didn’t. 😢But it seemed selfish of me, at the time, to assume i was anything close to what she deserved and I knew she could have anyone she desired. Then while I was married, she went through many difficult breakups and it tore me up inside like nothing else ever has. And I’ve experienced some of the most horrific things, but nothing has ever torn me up as much as seeing her in pain. But I think she’s happy now and now I just realize that I’m just the villain that just stood by and watched while she hurt, but rightly so I suffered the whole time too. Now I’m clean and starting over. Standing on my own two feet. It’s funny, I’ve always known I wouldn’t be sent to Hell for all the other things I’ve done, but truth is, I can never accept Heaven for what I did to her. I withheld my love where i knew it belonged and faked it where it didn’t. That is what blaspheming The Spirit is. The one unforgivable sin. Now i wish for hell so that I at least have somewhere to go. Guess I actually have ever since I abandoned her. 😢
