Put We3 by Grant Morrison in that list.. I was blown up by the art .. initially I saw Blacksad the game trailer and then got to know that it's based upon a book..Wowh..as usual great upload by you.. Still waiting for that Dear Creature review by you..

@@amy99077 thank you very much! And it is episode 32 its all done and the wait will be over by next week 😉 We3 is one of my absolute favourites and it mainly because of Frank Quietly and his amazing art and panel layouts. Hope you get round to reading Blacksad one day!

@@OffMyShelves Yes..Black sad is something I want to read..TBH I read Amarillo and didn'tike the story ..the art is breathtaking though.. beautiful circus panels ..Will we be getting a compendium or Omni in near future for the complete series?
@OffMyShelves3 жыл бұрын
@@amy99077 probably not, I only tend to upgrade if there is a size difference or binding or that type of thing. The build and quality of the individual volumes is more than good so I’ll stay with them.

You're right the art is sublime on these. There's also a computer game which looks great too.

Excellent video as usual! Did you know that Juanjo Guardino worked as an illustrator for Disney previously? That's one of the reasons why you can clearly see that Blacksad has very much a Disney-like anthropomorphic style, but more mature and basically turned up to 11 in all respects. This video really tells me I should probably reread the books soon, I don't remember the plot anymore, but the superb style and art had etched itself irreversibly into my memory.

Thank you very much my friend! I did know that and you can see it a mile off particularly with the expressive faces, they are amazing. Get on a re-read and enjoy!

Excellent video as usual my friend!!. The art in these books is amazing. It took me a lot of time to complete the stories cause I stared a lot at each incredible image. My favorite story is Arctic Nation. Can't wait for next year to read the new story. Thanks again for your amazing videos. P.s. I read another comment suggesting Fear Agent for a future video in your channel. That video will be so cool. I wanted to purchase it but the prices are way out of my budget. Can't remember if you own it, if you do, then the video will be highly apreciated :)
@OffMyShelves3 жыл бұрын
Thank you much indeed! Thank you for watching! Arctic nation is well up there for me too, its fantastic. Now i will have to do the fear agent overlook for certain, so expect it at some point….working on a few specific vids around an amazing book that is 35 years old this September so it will be a bit.

If it's crazy expensive then I recommend you to go for the final editions tpb. IMO Library Editions do justice to the series.

I’ve got Blacksad (love it), is there anything else you would recommend alone a similar line?
@OffMyShelves3 жыл бұрын
I suppose Grandville as it’s anthropomorphic, and follows a detective is in a similar vein but way different at the same time. All the other noir type fiction books I like seem to follow the criminals rather than the investigators so Criminal, Stray Bullets, that type of thing. But I’ll have a think and let you know.
@TaintedCatalyst3 жыл бұрын
Great video! If you had to pick one between Blacksad and Grandville which do you think you'd pick? I've got all of Blacksad and have been eyeing Grandville, but don't know if it worth getting both. Any thoughts?
@OffMyShelves3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And you’re putting me on the spot!…Grandville is way more bombastic and action packed tbh, the mysteries and cases feel way more like Sherlock Holmes mixed with James Bond and most of the cases are centred on the political relationship between Britain and France in the fictional world Talbot creates. Blacksad is far more noir-ish and is like an anthropomorphic big sleep or Maltese Falcon, and the world is far more familiar as it follows our world history for the most part. It is as action packed as Grandville but not as bonkers, coz trust me LeBrock in Grandville is a killing machine 😂 and the steam punk world brings in robots and off the wall technology, in a great way mind. The art in Blacksad is out of this world for so many reasons, while Grandville is great and does the job well. In summary as this is a waaayy longer answer than even I thought I’d give…they are both great and to a certain extent the only similarities are their crime fiction and anthropomorphic. If you go into Grandville expecting Blacksad you will be disappointed as they are different beasts…literally! My personal favourite of the two would be Blacksad but Grandville is well worth a look.
@TaintedCatalyst3 жыл бұрын
@@OffMyShelves wow that's an amazing response. Thank you! Guess I gotta pull the trigger on Grandville soon then as it sounds like my sort of thing. Thank you again!
