I think the attraction of your off-road videos is that it shows just how truely capable these "soft-road" SUV's are. Most owners will NEVER take their cars to a place like this but you demostrate that the "everyman driver" can take a SUV like this off road and have fun and their vehicle won't let them down.

really good videos especially the offroad. I'm a jeeper, so I might take my future crossover to my local camps or some mild offroad (not play, just getting there). what I don't like about this car is that they should of added the E parking brake, that would save space in this small car. the bigger cx5 has it and also the rear leg room sucks. I'm 6'1 and I just didn't fit. what I like it's price and those different color on the inside.

I used to be a Mazda fan, and have owned one, but now except for the Miata they offer two engines for the whole lineup, and killing the V6 and adding a turbo to the 2.5 liter for the CX 9, and do SUV's really need 18" wheels? This is a trend I hope will go away, because it brings expensive tires that aren't as good in the snow, more road noise, and harder hits to the suspension with the harder sidewall low profile tires. Also are the engine RPM's in this type of vehicle so crucial, that it requires a large center mounted rpm gauge?
@letsgonow56418 жыл бұрын
+ron mortensen I agree on the tire part..When my sister bought a Mazda 3 years ago she waned the bigger tires.. i suggested she go with the smaller tired but was in love with the larger rims..it does have one benefit..better handling..but the cons generally outweigh it imho..but its what the public wants..we just bought the Cx5 tourin w the 16"...no the rpm isnt crucial these engines loved to be revved as he points out..its just a design..some cars have been doing something similar.retro thing..Also the V6 was a Ford design engine that while a decent engine didnt give great gas...with all the regulations EPA/Cafe its about MPG these days..oh an the Miata in the Us offers only one engine..this same engine in the cx3, which is the base engine for the mazda 3 and cx5, it has less HP in the miata/cx3 since they had to use a smaller header/exhaust..oh and the other models come with the smaller tires..
@R777-RLM8 жыл бұрын
+Luis Coqui I didn't catch that about the Miata being the base 2.0L, but you pointed out my disappointment in today''s cars, everything is dictated by the far to powerful EPA. You have to buy a truck, larger SUV, minivan or sports car for a standard 6 or 8 cylinder. My Jetta 1.8L Turbo 4 cylinder's best mileage is 26 MPG, and has been the most unreliable car I've owned. Modern cars are heavy, and now we have small engines to handle the load, I'd take a long lasting V6 over a hard working 4 cylinder, especially a turbo charged engine, because that small MPG increase, won't pay for a new engine.
@letsgonow56418 жыл бұрын
+ron mortensen Yes the Miata engine is the base engine in the 3 and Cx5. ( slightly modified to fit in the miata) The miata is a niche car that sells in low #s. They arent going to develop a separate power plant for it. The research for new modern engines costs $$$. Its always been this way. Yes its not the manuf its the government. They want more efficient better gas mileage lower emissions. The one way to meet that was to turbo charge a 4 cylinder. Mazda is actually the one manuf that resisted this in the US. They went with the Skyactive high compression instead. The reason they turbo charged the CX9 is that they currently do not have a V6 in their portfolio. Especially one that meets these new standards. The old Cx9 V6 was a gas guzzler.( by todays standards). Plus for the most part Mazda has ended its ties with Ford. Again it cost a ton of money to develop. The Cx9 sells in low #s they would break even if they had to develop a new powerplant for it. However, i wouldnt be surprised if they came out with a V6 in the near future. I knew a few years ago they were going to go that route with the Cx9. The engine is capable of more power but had to tuned to meet these new regulations.
@R777-RLM8 жыл бұрын
+Luis Coqui Luis, you seem very knowledgeable about Mazda's, I admire that. I've studied cars for 35 years, and it's sad to see car and truck makers doing a lot of the same things they did in the 80's, because of the so called oil crisis then. Today it's climate change, but the results are the same. It was great to watch vehicles go from under powered, unreliable junk, to cars with plenty of power, and a significant increase in reliability and longevity. Now they seem to be drifting back again. By the way, I had a 1989 Mercury Tracer, base on the Mazda 323. It was one of the best cars I've owned, It cost 9,300 dollars brand new, with a 1.6L 4 cylinder engine, and beautiful soft two tone velour seats. I prefer cloth, but today's cloth seats, even in higher priced cars, look to me like the seats in an entry level car 15 yrs ago.
