You can't stop while going uphill with any vehicle or tires in slippery conditions, or you're stuck. That said, tires are everything. Even then, in deep slush/mud, putting a vehicle on it's belly as you dig a hole is possible. Luckily, we usually only have to deal with deep snow in our Samurai and 4x4 Tacoma. Rarely deep mud and standing water, but regardless, both get us to town and back when needed. Living in mountains miles from paved roads requires capable vehicles AND tires that get you home. This video is evidence of what a Samurai is capable of. This under-powered little truck is probably the best off road vehicle ever made.

It is true that tires are very important in 4x4 vehicles. As samurai has the advantages and disadvantages of larger vehicles, the samurai is agile for forest trails, but not for long-distance driving and the luggage space that can be used for sleeping or something else is small. With large 4x4s, more storage space, more comfortable driving on long journeys ... The samurai is definitely a great off road vehicle, check out the rest of my off road video on how the samurai drives towards larger 4x4 vehicles. greetings
