I just got done a week ago installing a Rough Country winch mount on my 2013 F-350 diesel dually crew cab that weighs around 10,000 lbs loaded. It was a pain and I had to do some cutting on the brackets on the factory bumper and on the frame mounting bracket from the kit but I was able to get five 1/2” grade 8 bolts in each side. The kit was a bit of a challenge but I’ve had winch’s before and the more bolts the better.

Well, it doesn't look like they'll need to worry about the improper winch mount anymore (at least not that one).

I feel bad for the owner, but unless you strap $15,000 to the roof, that is not quite a $25,000 mistake.

I'd say once you pay labor to swap their aftermarket parts to another chassis, replace broken aftermarket parts, and pay the recovery, the number is pretty close.

@@ImAfraidBruce If that ~25 year old has to pay labor to swap parts, the wuss should just get a Prius or ride the bus. Building and wheeling XJ's is not a game for the dainty types.

@MattsOffRoadRecovery you are great at what you do and at the end of the day you know best and I enjoy your videos. Saying that, respectfully please hear me out if you wish. I still personally feel that a solid bar of some kind that possibly reaches under the vehicle to lift it on the axils or, alternatively a suitable place can save a lot of trouble and make the recovery much smoother and more pleasant to do. You could use a limiting strap to stop the bar from clocking over, it can possibly be controlled by the rear winch to adjust it's limiting height, this will stop the towed vehicle from ramming the wrecker, and help especially when there is a breaking issue with the towed vehicle. Also having a solid bar that goes under the vehicle to lift it will solve the problem with the plastic bumpers, the lift ropes comming off the boom could be used to control the height of that, making it modular and adjustable, having mounting positions at different lengths, keep it simple and possibly have different options to attach. For instance, one that can attach to bumper if the vehicle has a nice solid off-road bumper. But at the same time have it as light as possible but still strong enough. If the heights can be adjustable during tricky obstacles will be not much different than what adjustment is done on the boom as it is now 😉. I'm sure it can be done with not too much hassle. It is hard to explain like this. You could build in a sliding mechanism that can be locked with a pin and the pin can be removed to allow the towed vehicle to be able to lift higher whilst going down big step-offs. Thank you for your videos.

You guys should take a pic of each recovery and put em online. That would be cool. W date, place, and how long it took to recover.

I love that you guys don’t just hook on to any aftermarket bumper and pull. That bumper would have just ripped off and caused a big mess.

Don't worry about the glass fragments, KateLynn. Modern cars are fitted with safety glass that does not shatter into bits with sharp edges.
