Gandhi... U mean the politician among saints, or the saint among politicians? India has given the planet Śrīla A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who is the greatest among saints and sages, but the way India treated him, it's best not to say he was Indian. Best to say he is a modern Vaikuntha ambassador, for he was the general in the mission of Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu, humanitarian, and propagator of the movement for all people of all races, ages, genders, births and denominations. Rao was bold enough to get an article out about the Bhagavad-Gita, with a photo of the edition translated by His Divine Grace Śrīla Prabhupada, but not noble enough to give credit to Prabhupada. That's why India has no clue to date about their real welfare work to be taken seriously.

I really loved how sekhar uncle is calmly listening to what's going on, with full attention and nodding of head in between. I read a lot of people criticizing him on Twitter,but he to me seems a really cool old man proud of the way he lived his life and friends he made and is not shy of showing off (and I personally believe that there is nothing wrong with it, although I myself live totally opposite of it). Cool man, in short very likeable. Keep it on sir.

Some years ago, watching CNN in USA, a man was being interviewed by Fareed Zakaria. The show was in its last few minutes. I did not know this man. Had never heard or seen him before. Being fond of Horoscope, I noticed the similarity of persona and told my wife sitting beside me that this man is someone like me. “We are similar” I exclaimed. The CNN show ended and I never got to catch the name of this person. Later in the day, I investigated through the web on who the guest was at the Fareed Zakaria show and found out that it was Gulcharan Das. Born 12 years before I did exactly on same day and only 50 miles or so away from where I was born. We shared the same date of birth according to Greek astrology but also had a double match as we shared the sign per Chinese astrology too. A Libra/Sheep combo. My instant feeling of being a similar person had turned out right. My wife was in disbelief at my perfect guess. I wrote an email to Gulcharan Das about this and he acknowledged. Maybe he remembers 🙂. Anyway I thought someone might find this story interesting. I was born in Pakistan before I moved to USA in 1977 for my education.

I am sorry. This is the only video on your channel I couldn't bear to go on with till the end. I am aware of my prejudices, my strong views on Gandhi. That said, I do not agree that Gandhi's ideas were original. You can give it any name. The fact of the matter is it's simple economics of return on wealth. Financial returns continue to excite you for a certain length of time, and then you wonder why that's not giving you the same joy as it did the day before. It's at that point you switch to a different / higher (if you agree with Maslow) forms of return. I have worked in the development space and I understood that the "social" investment of the rich is not necessarily selfless, nor does it always spring from a moral obligation to the society. They very often chase a different chimera. I am completely for it. Just because the rich are doing it to please themselves does not take away the beneficiaries' lot improving from the formers' action. In summary, it's part and parcel of basic economics which you are taught in high school- law of returns that govern the actions of people, consciously or unconsciously.

Gandhi believed in People's power and trade rather than Government trade. His empathais on manufacturing local goods shows his interest to strengthen manufacturing sector. Rather than heavy industries that we had just after independence which was a clossal disasterous step. If u see every country which grew from nothing, Singapore,China, Vietnam they have grown from focusing and strengthing local manufacturing and exporting everyday goods in the first step.

Economist gandhi and also religious gandhi.It is almost shocking that how mahatma gandhis image is molded into a symbol of peace etc. But very few see that how much religion he was, his ideology was result of his deep understanding of hindu religious, he was always into preserveing our culture while also in getting rid discrimination in it , but this side of him is never shown. Thats why he was more into sardar being pm than nehru but he didn't wanted Congress to be divided

Gandhi was uneducated in the sacred scriptures of his own birth nation. On top of that it was not his non-violent ideals that gained indepence, it was the brave concerted efforts of Subash Candra Bose that forced the British to flee. Gandhi ji may have been a poster guy for the Gītā, and the name of Rāma, but that doesn't mean a whole lot in the realm of spiritual upliftment of the population. India suffers deeply from false pride in the wrong idols. Maybe that's all that the country deserves, now , as it scrambles madly to copycat Western materialistic society.

If you do not know things do not make things up!!! Gurucharan Das is way off in his interpretation of the Gita. When Das claims the Nazi's used Karmanye Vaa Adhikarasthe to justify their actions. It was all for the Glory of the Reich!!!! The Gita is not in the Glory of anyone. The said stanza just says let not the fruits of labor alone be the motivation to do a deed. It also goes on to say Inaction is also not admissible. Most of these folks that claim intellectual status should let things be and not quote rubbish!!!!!!! I am not sure what Das wa drinking.

What the Gita actually points at, is to put the burden of dharma on the head of the action doer. Which is where the principle of karma comes in. The Gita is not prescriptive. If that core of Vedantic philosophy has escaped you, you might want to re-read these texts.
@MrRk5403 жыл бұрын
@@mohantysobhi That is not the point. Please go listen to what Gurucharan Das said!!!! The specific shloka from the Gita says and means exactly what I have outlined. Prescriptive or otherwise, the meaning does not change.
@mohantysobhi3 жыл бұрын
@@MrRk540 The whole point of something not being prescriptive is, interpretation DOES change. First of all, the Maharabharata was written from the perspective of the Puru tribe or dynasty, hence the idea of "dharma" in this case meant something specific as seen from their perspective within the framework of what Arjuna had to do as his duty. It is not the fault of the Mahabharata or Gita if the Nazis subvert it to justify their ethnic cleansing. A number of European ethnocentric fascists used the idea of Indic civilization and Sanskrit to justify their race superiority. The Mahabharata and the Gita are extremely well known in the western historical and philosophical world, and many people have quoted or used it, for good and bad reasons. Like the Sun, the Gita exists. What you do with sunlight or with the words of the Gita, is your or my own karma.

Gandhi speaking about children inheritance and trusteeship sounds so hypocritical! I am great admirer of Gandhi for his political thought and ethical stands but when it comes to family and inheritance even his name is being used by a family who is not even remotely related to him for their own gain! Bottom line if u don’t want to give children wealth why have children ? they didn’t ask their parents to be born so why trouble them with the pains of this world? There is a moral dilemma of making them incompetent that’s understandable but the effort to make then competent has also to come from the parents!

White American Wealth is Built on Slavery and Genocide and stealing Native land Building a commercial enterprise out of the wilderness required labor and lots of it. For much of the 1600s, the American colonies operated as agricultural economies, driven largely by indentured servitude. Most workers were poor, unemployed laborers from Europe who, like others, had traveled to North America for a new life. In exchange for their work, they received food and shelter, a rudimentary education and sometimes a trade. By 1680, the British economy improved and more jobs became available in Britain. During this time, slavery had become a morally, legally and socially acceptable institution in the colonies. As the number of European laborers coming to the colonies dwindled, enslaving Africans became a commercial necessity-and more widely acceptable. With ideal climate and available land, property owners in the southern colonies began establishing plantation farms for cash crops like rice, tobacco and sugar cane-enterprises that required increasing amounts of labor. To meet the need, wealthy planters turned to traders, who imported ever more human chattel to the colonies, the vast majority from West Africa. As more enslaved Africans were imported and an upsurge in fertility rates expanded the “inventory,” a new industry was born: the slave auction. These open markets where humans were inspected like animals and bought and sold to the highest bidder proved an increasingly lucrative enterprise. By the mid-19th century, a skilled, able-bodied enslaved person could fetch up to $2,000, although prices varied by the state. Slave auction circa 1861 Economic Necessity Trumps Morality Slave labor had become so entrenched in the Southern economy that nothing-not even the belief that all men were created equal-would dislodge it. When delegates to the Constitutional Convention met in Philadelphia in the summer of 1787, they were split on the moral question of human bondage and man’s inhumanity to man, but not on its economic necessity. At the time, there were nearly 700,000 enslaved people living in the United States, worth many millions in today’s dollars.
