Anthony's dad saying you wanna hit me don't you? I usually pretend to kick my dad as he's walking away. One time he caught me doing it and he was like i know you have been wanting to kick me.😅😅😅

You shouldn't blame them for not knowing something but I get so upset when they refuse to learn or adapt. Instead of "I don't know, so I will learn/find out", they say "I don't know, so I won't do it" or "I don't know, so you do it for me". I know it's ignorance and not knowing where to find resources to learn on their part. But it gets so upsetting.

Not like we're receptive to their way either, we often want them to learn bc its an inconvenience for us to have to explain it over and over again.

They also treat you like you're supposed to be their teacher, even tho you're just a 9-yr-old or 14 yr-old at that time (parentifying the child) and trying to learn how to learn in the first place. Pretty unreasonable and perfect setup to burn us out early. Tbh they should've seeked another 30-yr-old whose job is to teach X thing, instead of a 9-yr-old whose job is to learn multi-digit multiplication and long division. Doesn't get better when you're older either (at least if they stay reliant and their environment keeps enabling them). Family visits (like holiday visits) end up feeling like showing up to your 2nd full-time job where you're expected to have 100% of the training to do the work (that parents tell you to do) but you actually have 0% of the training cuz you spend all your time and energy at your primary job that pays your actual bills. I didn't realize *that* was the frustrating part.

this episode is funny asf and thank for THIS FIRE CONTENT!!! It could be because i can relate but this is the type of conversations we need more off. but the reason i came here for was to say the comparsion of Bart and Steve talking about their childhood situations and than jumping into Joes story was the wildly funniest thing i have heard in a good while

THE BEST SEGMENT YET!!!! Had me laughing out loud literally!!!! You guys should do another one of these. I too had to kneel as punishment, but it wasn’t just the carpeted floor, but on some dry mung beans for riding my bike two blocks away from my house. I don’t remember my age when this took place.

This is similar to what Can’s parents made him do! Except for the mung beans lol

Aside from hitting us with belts, wood sticks etc. My mom made us kneel into raw mung beens while balancing 2 books both of our arms. It builds character 😂

Steve's story about locking out his siblings unlocked a memory about chasing my cousin into my house and he locked me out and was mocking me. Our front door had a glass window so I punched it and shattered it. My mom was so pissed she left me outside to bleed and acted like I didn't exist. My sister tried helping me since I was bleeding and had glass in my hand but she got yelled at for helping. I laugh now because it's all water under the bridge. Makes sense why she'd be mad since glass replacement is expensive plus I supposedly got glass in my cousin's eye and I still have a scar on my right hand to remind me 🤣

For me it was 4th grade or 5th my parents sat me down and talked to me and told me that I was getting to old to get whoopings and that I had to learn how to use my better judgement and make the right decisions. And obviously I always didn’t make the right decision and I learned from it. Especially entering middle school when you’re hitting puberty and stuff you make a a lot of dumb decisions. And I still go punished by getting my phone taken away which hurt more than any whooping would have because around that time I was getting into girl and I would text and be on the phone all night with girls or my parents wouldn’t let me go to my wrestling, soccer games which also hurt more than a whooping when you love sports. And I’m high school my parents gave me freedom but by that time my parents had already guided me towards being independent and I never got in trouble all I did was hang with girls and play sports and play on the Xbox 😂

My brother is six years older than me, and he used to do WWF moves on me, threatened to throw my stuffed animals in the pool if I didn't do what he said, he'd hold me down and fart so I couldn't escape the smell, and he would put me and our sister in our room together, have us fight, and when we wouldn't want to fight anymore, he would fart, leave the room and hold the door shut so we were trapped with the smell. 🤮

I'm the thing oldest child and I didn't even have that freedom with my younger brother because my parents probably do know but they don't know what a scapegoat is apparently I'm most likely the scapegoat in this family my younger brother gets hurt most of time physically me emotionally and apparently I've messed up most things are on this house even on accident and I still get up yelled at or so they may deny it but I know I'm the scapegoat and that should not be true.

Blaming them for sure is a little stupid/flawed but holding some resentment is personally justified personally. I can't speak for everyone but the types of punishment I endured went beyond just teaching a lesson.
@laurent8446
@laurent8446 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed having that resentment is understandable, some parents have caused too much trauma that carry on to the worst part of ourselves that we don’t realize until later onto life. Somethings can seem so normal but aren’t really in other families
