I actually needed this. I've been really destorying myself thinking about how much I have to get done in my twenties and constantly worrying about how the decisions I make now will impact my future. I just can't wait to be a little nicer to myself eventually.

I’m in my late 20s now. I spent a big chunk of my 20s high on hard drugs. I really wish I started building my life up earlier so I could do drugs in my 30s without worrying about money. And also there’s this dread that the older you get, the fewer opportunities you have. But there is Grandma Moses that started painting much later in life and still become successful…you never know how life will go

I'm not someone who usually comments but I feel that its important to share my perspective on where I am in life. I'm 23 and I have realized that it's not a goal of mine to live where I reach the age of 30 to 35. I came to this understanding because I see my current world falling apart and that I am attempting all sorts of things to keep my world together and spinning. But at every interval, I feel that my intentions of living a long life is met with less enthusiasm because of a multitude of influences. Whether its financial instability, expectations, or dissonance within my own country. I already accepted that any attempt I make to keeping my world together will eventually fail. With that said, I made a promise to myself that I would make the next 10 to 15ish years count by not buying a house or making a comfortable amount of money (dreams of mine). The universe showed me that my world doesn't include those things and so I have shrunk my world to only myself and my experiences. I'll dedicate those years to live without fear of making it in the rat race and making my moments worth it. I hope I don't influence you, my reader in anyway. I wrote this to express the kind of sentiment others may have because of their experiences. My goal is to be happy for the years that I planned to have.

It’s so crazy cuz in high school I was like “why is everyone still acting like they’re in middle school?” Then leaving high school was more like “why is everyone still acting like they’re in high school” you realize how much ppl don’t want to grow up but I’ve always felt like at 18-20 years old I’ve felt like my mentality is of a 25-27 year old it has its ups n downs ppl need to sometimes take time and just look around at how others carry themselves to se how you want to carry yourself

Late 40s here. My first job I was 14. Graduated college @22yo. I'm 24yrs at my current job. Planning on retiring at 55yo. Investing during your 20s is pipe dream. 90% of people in their 20s are more concerned about partying. Wisdom in your youth is a lot less fun. I had loads of fun in my 20s, but I was swimming in debt. LOL!

And last July I had surgery because I had an infected cyst, so now I have half an ovary on my right side. I’m now trying to build/start a business while waiting for my visa trying to rush ahead more so I can be comfortable to have a kid so I can hopefully have a hysterectomy (I have endometriosis).

I kinda ruined my life. I mean, I always wanted to be a mom, just not in my teens. So I was a teen mom, and my twenties were all about raising my kids, the 30's were also. Even now, I'm helping to raise my daughter's children. I was a teacher, so I've always had children in my life. So, even if I had dreams, my kids came first. My family comes first before what I want. Ruined sounds bad, I don't mean ruined.
@bethnichols2875 Жыл бұрын
As a woman who was a teen mom as well. Single teen mom at that. I wouldn't say ruined, just that you selflessly redirected your energy. Ruined would be to possibly regret your life and I doubt you regret your children and grandchildren since you speak on how great they are and how much you love them. And for to change one thing in your past, such as when you married, would change the course of your life, who you've met along the way, and who you currently have in your life now.
@GYSMelanie5 Жыл бұрын
@Beth Nichols yeah I definitely don't regret my children, or I wouldn't have my amazing grandchildren. The regret I think I feel is all the things I didn't do because I thought I had to only be a mom and put my aspirations on the back burner. My mom did that, and my mom's mom did that. So I didn't really know any other way. They are a huge blessing.
@bethnichols2875 Жыл бұрын
@@GYSMelanie5 Well the first step was realizing the issue. The next step would be trying to change the pattern I suppose. So hopefully your children are realizing/following their dreams and aspirations and inturn your grandchildren as they get older.

Several things about this video. It’s great conversation to be had but I’m grateful to have my own proper association where those topics are regular conversation and I’ve been in that world for about like 2 years now. I’m 23 myself and life is great. Im not floating around and I’m after my goals one of which is to have my first kid by my 31st birthday. But before then I have to make sure the company is healthy and find wifey all according to plan so far (for the most part at least) Also also the human species as we know it is about 300k yrs old. Our species is older than that but 270~300k yrs ago is the point in our history where our anatomy is what it is now brain and body wise. Civilization as we know it started at around 4k bce so about 6,000 yrs ago now put things in perspective electricity was first put into homes in 1882 141 yrs ago, the first internet which was only for military and science use was in 1983 39 yrs ago. Things are advancing pretty fact 🫶🏼

My parents did the same and now I have to pick up the pieces. Not saying that that'll happen to your kids, my parents messed up big time. I don't even know where my mom is and my dad croaked when I was 18. Because my parents didn't plan out their lives I have to be super careful about what my next moves are because of that because being in your early 30's the safety net gets smaller and smaller every year.
