Definitely a sense of huge achievement and at the same time internal struggle you kind of see on his face when speaking about how table tennis can’t just be only fun anymore. There’s something so great about the purity of just loving something, but there is something noble and honorable about having the talent that allows you to shoulder responsibility and represent something greater. It would be nice every once in awhile I’m sure for him to be able to turn off one or the other.

インタビューをそのまま訳しました。長くてすみません😅 卓球をとても愛している。卓球は、勝った後の喜びと激しい競争の厳しさを同時にもたらしてくれる。 両親がスポーツをさせたくて、たまたま卓球を選び、始めてから魅力を感じた。全て偶然が重なって始まったことだった。 21歳という年齢でこれだけの結果を残せて嬉しく、中国国家チームのおかげで成長できている。 小さい頃から毎日中国ナショナルチームでオリンピックチャンピオン達の練習を見て、自分を奮い立たせた。 世界ランク1位は卓球を始めてからの夢なのでとても嬉しい。プロとして、努力が報われて夢であったタイトルを取った時はとてもうれしい。でも、プレッシャーに勝てなかったらそれは負担になるので、技術に加えて精神的な部分も克服したい。 私生活では、チームメイトと外食に行ったり、笑い合ったり、練習したりしてリラックスさせてくれる。彼らと過ごすのが好き。でも、実際は楽しいことばかりじゃなく、毎日が練習中心の生活。週末は時々ゲームをする（笑） 中国は卓球の競技人口も多く、応援するファンがたくさんいる。 卓球にいい影響を与え、多くの人が卓球を好きになることを望んでいる。 今は前よりはプレッシャーを感じていない。中国チームの主力選手として、もっと責任を持つ必要がある。

the ITTF changed ranking system to cater to more active players, which explains the dip. Despite the rankings, Ma Long and FZD are definitely the world's two best players as of the moment, with Xu Xin coming in a close third.
