It seems that only a few commenters are aware of The Tales of Hoffman, the opera that contains this beautiful duet. The opera has more sublime music...and is a wonderful introduction to the genre...look for it. Listen to it. It is a delight and was the opera that began my long love of opera.

is my Barrcarole “Remember This” moment. Location - Place de Vogues, Paris Time- Early Twilight Sitting at a Café to the right of the hotel La Reine de la Vogues. Two young women were across from us on the covered walkway to the left of La Reine de la Vogues. we were near the opera so I expect they were students. Both of them sang and one of them also played the violin it was a true remember this experience beautiful beyond any of my words it was so beautiful I felt it physically

And the film is good too. It's so surreal and beautiful, like a dream. This was how I found 'The Tales of Hoffman'. I saw it on telly, bought the video, then bought the DVD, then purchased the CD. It remains one of my favourite operas...😊
