Hi Jay and Jen, Terry here from Northumberland, U.K. Came across your 6 month time lapse video by chance just before Chrixtmas and was immediatley hooked! So went back to the beginning and have now watched every one in about 4 weeks. Fortunately I am 70 years old and retired and can't think of a better way to spend the cold winter days than being warmed by you wit, charm and humour. You make a great team and bring a lot of joy to many, many people. You don't need to just take my word for that, look at thr subscriber numbers. You say you are not builders or professionals but that just makes the cabin you have built even more amazing. I love it. 😍 Just one question. Why are some of the support timbers sawn and put straight in the ground but others are cut logs that have be painted with preservative? Wow Terry.....I want to genuinely say thank you for this lovely comment. I may have had to take a moment after reading it to regain composure, these are the comments that keep us going. It brings us happiness knowing you have found joy in our videos and journey here. In regards to your questions about the posts....we used treated store bought timbers for the new addition and re-used treated posts for the cabin foundation because they were affordable when we needed them. The lumber prices dictated what we used during the deck build. We used Maple trunks for the deck to try it out and they were available after clearing the view. If the deck post rot out we know not to use them in the future, but we wanted to be more cautious with the foundation for the cabin. Although concrete pillers might have been the right choice instead of timbers overall, we are hoping they will outlast us at least. If the painted maple trunks don't holdup well we can somewhat easily replace them. Hope that makes sense. So long story short, cost and we wanted to experiment a bit.

Condensation in the pipe allows it to build up faster. If you use double walled pipe sloping down to a tee outside then go up. A lot of that will collect in bottom of tee. A coffee can is usually attached to bottom of tee. Noticed other cabins set up that way. Put some holes in bottom of can to allow water to escape so it don't become a block of ice. 2 blocks or rocks under shed will keep more frost from crawling up. It breaks the capillary action. Current brush doesn’t reach the middle or top of the windshield. Did find them on Amazon for about $20. Enjoy the snow. It actually is working really well....we just had a weird moment or two where the stove had a back draft.....I was worried that cheapy damper in the pipe had come loose and was blocking the pipe. I was playing the better safe then sorry check. I really like the through the wall kit because I can clean it from the ground.....HUGE bonus if your roof if steep like ours or you want less places to leak in you roof, lol. through the wall tends to be more expensive though because you typically need more expensive triple wall pipe outside.

Euch ein gesundes neues Jahr ! Das alle Wünsche in Erfüllung gehen! Wie ich jetzt so bemerkt habe ist das nicht ein fester Wohnsitz sondern ein Wochenendhaus zur Erholung! Den zwischen-Boden zum Giebel da hätte ihr die Fußbodenhölzer auch mit Balken Schuhe befestigt können! Ich weiß aber nicht ob das in Amerika gemacht wird ? Und die Leiter nach oben! Da hätte ich ein Treppen Auge ausgeschnitten mit Wechsel und Geländer ! Aber ist soweit alles in Ordnung 👍 wie ich gesehen habe habt ihr ein irisch Setter ( 🐕) Wir haben ein 8 j alten Dobermann und vorher ein rotweiler und davor eine deutsche Dogge! Happy new years guys! Can't wait to see the cabinets. Looks like the same ones we just installed on Thanksgiving. We have the Diamond Hickory cabinets. Bought 7 cabinets and 4 were damaged! Make sure you check then really well. They do look great, especially for the price.

2 - 45s equal a 90. However, when ya do smoke pipe you’ll notice a very soft angle? Sometimes a hard 90 ain’t what ya want? Less build up! Old plumber talk. Happy new year!
