Really? Except he pushed past the wife, entered the home without so much as asking her if he was armed. That is a very, very basic question when entering a DV situation. The dad never raised the gun and the officer could have retreated. He never even warned the man to put it down. You are so full of baloney.

Well some people just don't expect someone who was once a loved one to get taken out, even though everyone who calls the police for these types of situations should at the very least be aware of that possibility, if not expect it. I don't know if most people really grasp the concept of how temporary life is and how it can be taken in an instant.

@@PertinentSkittle This is, perhaps, the worst take I've ever seen on a police shooting. First of all, as others have stated, the abuser (yes, that's what he deserves to be called) did CLEARLY begin to raise the shotgun. I didn't see it in real time, but slowed down, he absolutely did. At the VERY least it's what called a "furtive gesture". However, second: Are you implying that the cop should've waited until the gun was *actually* pointed and aimed at the cop? Because, if so... WTF?

@@adamkahn8645 A few days ago , someone in Florida was shot by an officer responding to a domestic call . The comment section in those news reports was all over the officer for shooting a guy " that was exercising his 2A RIGHTS in his own home " . He opened the door wide while holding a gun after police announced themselves. While the FL incident was not as involved as this one, it still involved an officer needing to make a split second decision based on information gathered in real time rather than comment sections knowing the eventual outcome and the comment section basing opinions on that. Too many posters in the FL incident come up with lame excuses as to why they won't join the force and do a better job.

Had the guy lived, he could’ve argued that he had no idea it was the police and that’s why he grabbed the gun and got shot and probably could’ve sued them. I’m 99% of the time on the side with the police but I take real issue with police not announcing themselves as that is the entire reason that Breonna Taylor was wrongfully murdered in my city of Louisville.

@CrizzyEyes

that incident is mostly due to the complete breakdown of trust in our society. the airman answered the door with a gun because he believed he might be getting robbed by a cop impersonator. bad decision by the way, he should not have opened the door at all if that was his fear. the cop dodged the peephole, exacerbating the airman's suspicion, because he believed he might be randomly shot through the door. the landlady called the cops because "it's gotten worse" despite the fact that she told the cop that she heard a "slap" last time she heard arguing and, for some reason, did not call cops at that point. it could have been avoided by any of the parties involved stopping to talk to each other at any point in time, except the landlady and the cop

Gun nuts have a bad habit of making their weapons an extension of their personalities. That's why you see so many guns in the hands of undeserving people, and the way that it's proven so difficult to regulate is a significant enough reason why private gun ownership is prohibited in most nations outside the U.S. But unsurprisingly too many 2A fanatics pride themselves on this right, which they're actually more uniquely privileged to than they even realize, that they've lost all respect for what guns were actually made for and their personal responsibility to not misuse it.
