I'm an Aussie, and I can tell you, we have just as many confusing ways of saying things that Americans wouldn't get either. What Americans call a drug store we would call a Chemist (or pharmacy), but for some things the younger generations are more Americanised, so they will say cookie even though a real Aussir knows they mean biscuit.

I was in the airport in Miami when a British guy headed to Mexico needed to use my phone a few times. He had missed his flight. Anyway in return he spoke in his English voice and entertained us Americans for almost an hour. He literally made our day!!!!!! Sorry idk why were like this.

I’m American and when I was ringing up two guys orders (one was Australian and one was English) everything went fine until the English guy asked for water. I was trying so hard to figure out what he meant, but I just couldn’t get it. The Australian had to translate for me. 😂😂😂 I think I would have understood if he said “wo’ah,” but he didn’t-he said “woo-ah”. How am I supposed to know what that means. The only letter he prounounced was the ‘w’.

I have been ridiculed a few times. So I rather switched quickly to my “American version” as I would get no more of those strange looks and laughs. :D
