After Mulan, I don't think Liu Yifei would be part of a small screen drama that was not good! The cinematography looks very nice. I will be watching this tomorrow when it airs!

It's a very different kind of story. Her character was formerly part of a noble family that fell out of favor and they were either executed or sold into slavery. She was a slave of the state for several years, and worked as a musical performer which is pretty much one step above being a courtesan. Eventually the emperor released a pardon one year for several state slaves and she was granted her freedom. But ever since she still has the lowest status a citizen can have as a former pariah and former slave. After she gained her freedom she ran a tea house in one of the rural towns, and because she was a trained entertainer she is an expert at the ritualized tea service of that time.
