Did you see the lights go out on the streamline Santa Fe “Blue Goose” engine when it ran over the blue tape (simulated dead spot)? I guess, it almost ran out of stored electricity from the on-board capacitors. What do you think?

For a steam engine the headlight and smoke unit control board gets its power directly from the rails and the motor/sound/everything else gets power from the decoder. Therefore, Go pack power does not keep headlight and smoke unit going during an interruption of power - but it does keep your model moving and keeps the sound going.

I have one of the new Blue Goose engines (blue geese?) and I've noticed the lights flickering as well. Though it seems instead that the lights are not connected to the capacitor pack as they flicker from time to time on dirty track, while the locomotive keeps going. The capacitor actually has a really long stay alive time, where i turned my track off and it took six or seven seconds for it to shut down. The lights are really my only complaint, otherwise it's a fantastic model.

Hi, do you have replacements for the smoke unit? When I received my K4 streamlined on 2020, I tested it right out of the box, and instantly I felt a burnt smell from the smoke unit. It kept working for a while until not anymore. Please mind that I'm from Chile, so that's why I was struggling to ask earlier.

Ken. Super BLI n scale customer here. Previously you ran a 3 bay 6 pack coal hopper, now you are running a 4 pack of 4 bay coal hoppers. If I was you guys I would like as a N SCALER to tell you. N scalers run 12-24-36 car trains we don’t run 4 car trains if we did we would model HO. So I have like many others 2 big boys n scale on pre order. But if I wanted to have a BLI coal train to go with my big boys I would require 6 packs like you did before and A,B,C road numbers allowing us to acquire 18 car numbers not 4. The fantasy schemes are great. But please make red oxide w yellow up lettering; silver with red up lettering in ABC packs (18 numbers each) of Union Pacific coal cars to go with the many many buyers of your BLI big boy. If you want to play in n scale which you are ABSOLUTELY doing with the quality of your steam in N thank god you exist, please stop with the Ho 4 car numbers coal hoppers. If you don’t believe me they would sell in Union Pacific in lots of numbers please take a look at the ntrak, freemon, and people like myself with double deck large n scale layouts. When a n scaler sees only 4 numbers on a coal hopper he just avoids it. When he sees he can easily acquire a coal train by purchasing 3 packs of the cars he buys it. Now I am a UP/NP/MILW modeller so I only buy those roads from you. But I assume the same is true for the n&w guys with your upcoming 2-8-8-2 (they are also looking for a rerun and lots of numbers to go with their new steamers that are coming) all I’m asking for is you to rerun tooling which you already have in some additional nice schemes and lots of numbers. It will be easy for us to acquire from you vs renumbering or etc. just like you make it easy by having dcc sound in all your locomotives. The next gen of modellers and the old guys are doing sound. Do not let anyone tell you they want to go back to 1980s with dc. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us so far your locomotives you’ve made are my favourites and I very much enjoy running them. They pull lots of cars, they pull up grades, they don’t stall because of capacitors you have and they are loud can be heard in other floor of my house. The secret hold the whistle and hear the hidden whistle and all the electronics you have applied ❤❤❤. You have all of our n scale peoples attention bravo.

Good afternoon. Just a little disappointment. Picked up the new big boy, very impressive. Smoke coming out of the whistle and all the lights GREAT. Then got the Blue Goose. A little short on the lights and no smoke out of the whistle????? For the added cost I wonder WHY. You set the level rather high then drop it down??????? Any response?

@Mikki I think another issue is the Blue Goose costs the same as a big boy. I’m sure if you do some surgery the whistle could smoke on the BG.

They usually do. I got a Prr J1 and it came with the wheels with traction tires and with non at all
