It’s fair, game doesn’t need crossplay but does need first arc free or will fail. Sense bunch of other MMOs releasing on console now

I think people need to realize that cross play between consoles and pc is a lot more expensive than they think it is. She also brought up a really great point about needing to carry out updates at the same time on every platform otherwise spell data, worlds, events, etc wouldn’t match up. I’m still hopeful that the game is FULLY free to play (or at least arc 1) and I’d like to think that Kingsisle is doing that since they likely ran the numbers on how much they would trade off making one arc free but releasing the game to consoles. I feel that it wouldn’t be DOOMED to fail if this wasn’t the case, they’ll definitely get a new audience, but they also wouldn’t be able to guarantee anywhere near what they would expect.

Her statement, "Nobody else does crossplay, so I asked why don't we do crossplay," is entirely a lie. I would say 75% to 80% of multiplayer games being released these days are crossplay. The latest game I play, Throne and Liberty, does crossplay through the server side like she mentioned. However, she was talking about server mismatching and some people playing with updated spells while others are not. This could be easily remedied by taking the server down for maintenance for a couple of hours. This would force everyone to restart their clients and play on the updated servers. It's a very weak argument and poor excuse.

First arc needs to be free in order for this to be successful long term…. Xbox people pay for gamepass… and PlayStation people pay for plus…. (Idk about other consoles) SO if they make the first arc completely free it will be waaay more successful, rather than making people pay for a monthly membership starting in the first world 😄

I play on switch and we have to pay a subscription to access online AS A WHOLE, so I'm really hoping we can get arc 1 free as that has enough to keep the player base happy or at least satisfied

More like too broke to do it. Also Wiz101 isn't exactly a smash hit MMO or anything so first party wouldn't likely get their updates out first thing in tandem with P.C. Sad realities, but it is what it is.

@ianlavoie430 Wizard101 doesn't have the following you think it does. In this very video, they admit that this game does not have the renown nor income that something like Fortnite generates to maintain crossplay. Sure, a handful of streamers will fork over money for packs or crowns, but even with that and people buying subs, KI still have 2 games they manage, and neither of which are cheap. You are the fool if you actually think a few streamers make any sort of difference here. As much as I hope this isn't true, it's probably why they are even doing a console port to begin with. To bolster player count and get more subs and to sell packs to those not able to play via P.C.

@bluenited9524 i could say I don't have money when I do. Lying is easy. If they didn't have the following i "think" then why they keep updating? Why the game still going forward? The old players till play competitively. What you are trying to say is: nee players are not joining or spending money. Look you are free to think and feel how you want just as I am but I know they make about 38 to 100 mill a year until they refused to make wizard city free. Then they lost a lot of players. But yet again those are new players. The old ones already completed it and or purchased it with crowns. Yes they did take a financial hit but they can still afford it. And would you imagine if they did actually pay to do this on console the proper way they might actually gain players. You know besides the ones who gave up because it's pay to win.

@@deadpoolszombiepet4237 yea that logic might work if you needed a high end graphics card to run wiz. A 2008 normal dell laptop could run wiz with no issues. Console wiz is literally just wasting resources that could be otherwise used to improve on the main version

@@deadpoolszombiepet4237 another concern regarding your point, wiz is a nearly 20 year old niche game with a very small player base. Most players who are on have been playing for years & years or returning players from years ago. Wiz very likely gets very low numbers of new players. Releasing a console version isn’t going to magically increase those numbers. They’d be putting all these resources, time , money etc that could be used on the main game to make a console version most likely very few people are going to play. The risk/reward ratio for the good of Wizard101 as a whole is very low. They’d likely end up shutting down the console servers just like they did the EU servers due to low player base. Complete waste of resources

@@Artyom125 Well with Xbox (idk about PS) you don't actually need a gamepass/Gold subscription for free to play games. So Xbox players if they really wanted could only pay for wiz membership. But I doubt many pay for it in general.
