Seger is my first live concert in 1983. He sure makes it sound like a true story. I’m sure it was. He and Ronnie Van Zant (Lynyrd Skynyrd) write of real life stories. Love him. You should watch his live video, HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS in 1978 in San Diego. You’d probably enjoy that. Yeah, I agree with you on this.

Trivia - Glenn Frey of The Eagles was first recorded on his friend Bob Seger’s Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man” single in 1968 - In 1981 Seger’s “Against the Wind” won the rock group performance Grammy over Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” - Bob Seger opened for Queen on the American leg of their A Night at the Opera tour - The Silver Bullet Band has been backing Bob since 1972. In 1973, they played 265 shows in 365 days. (Turn the page indeed) - Bob and friend Bruce Springsteen were working on the albums ‘Against the Wind’ and ‘The River’ at the same time in LA. For a couple weeks they’d have dinner and hang out at the hotel in the evenings and over each other advice and support about the work of the day. Both great albums. - Seger’s last show of his final tour was Nov 1, 2019. RIP Muscle Shoals Swamper guitarist Pete Carr (“Mainstreet” studio version) SBB saxophonist Alto Reed (“Turn the Page”)

It's a song about not letting your heart be contained in the same mode. Humdrums that you do every day. It was a song written for bikers. To show that the freedom that the open road can give and you don't have to be tied down. But what man has to offer? But with your heart desires. You don't have to give in to the 9 to 5. Or. Or the beating of somebody else was drunk.You can make your own beach and make them your own. And when he talks about rolling abae I was on route sixty I was in my brands AM. And it had tea tops and all I could see was the desert plains and that black ribbon the highway. Didn't know how far it was going. But when I hit fourth gear, I was long going. And all of a sudden, I felt free and all of a sudden. I felt free and number hybrid Bob. Seger lives at life and he lives it for real. Thank you.

Yesterdays recordings can't compete with the clarity that recordings have today because of technological advancements, but they blow away the creativity and emotions of lots of today's artists. Not all, but definitely a lot of today's cookie cutters. The music industry lost their judgement of who's creative and talented today from way back in yesterday's world. Yet these labels are still ripping off the artist just as they always have done. It's business as usual for them, except they can't seem to find those artists who were like this when I grew up. Their was no formula to go by to sign someone back then like they have today. It was just a talent scout who heard music with his ears or watch a performance with his eyes and made the call to his bosses and said "I think I just found a star".
@itzel17353 жыл бұрын
Christian James Head on The Sessions radio show / podcast deconstructed Seger’s “Hollywood Nights”. (July 1, 2019) You can hear that they didn’t cut Bob’s breathing from the final track. I really think that adds to the emotional impact. It’s so subtle but because you can hear the panting breaths he takes before singing each phrase somewhere our brains must be registering it. Breathtaking indeed.
@richardmodglin39003 жыл бұрын
I will forfeit some clarity of modern tech if it means I dont have to listen to someone with little to no talent from the studio or up on stage trying to keep their image and popularity alive with gimmicks. Image over talent equals crap music wise. Its easy math folks. An era does come and go though and I realize that. I wonder though...... will people 40 and 50+ years from now one day look back and love the music they use to hear? Will it endure the decades....or will it be more about looking back on a handful of images that no longer can excite or entertain?
@bertpainter83853 жыл бұрын
@@itzel1735 I once had a debate about another singer on what breathing means to some songs. The other person felt a good/great singer controls their breathing so you rarely if ever hear it during a performance. I said not in certain genres or performances like Rock, etc. So he pointed me to some rock singers he knew of who were close to what he felt was technically correct. He missed my point, I tried to explain it could add to the energy, syncopation and rhythm of a song, but he wasn't having it. I feel any good rock singer uses their voice in anyway it feels right to emote passion in their singing. This is the young lady was who we debated about, she will be a star as soon as they release her music. Courtney Hadwin sings this cover version nothing like the original pop version. "Sucker" kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3eYZJqhjpV9n68 Maybe you'll agree or disagree with my point of view, but I am curious. She sings all different genres and has admitted that she was not a technically correct singer and has vastly improved on her techniques, yet today she hasn't lost anything in the way she used to sing. She just added on to it. You can hear her breathing almost purposely sung that way in the link I posted, yet the purist out there today won't except anything other than what they believe is correct or what they were thought. Or even sometimes they just regurgitate what others say. To me, if you took away her breathing in this song, you take away part of the energy too. Not that she doesn't show enough energy in her stage presence and vocals already. All her singing is full of power and energy sometimes through old school styles and sometimes like singers are expected to sing today

A true story. Every humans dream, to be free to make your own decisions about our own life. Yes i would say it's true. So grateful and privileged to be able to grow up during the times we could freely do this. The 80s were the best. Miss getting on my bike and just riding with no cares in the world, as we get older our bodies don't allow us that freedom. Do it while you are young.

Just get on the bike and ride. Go where ever you want to go. A much free-er and easier time. Yes, it was like that for some people, and still is actually. I never was brave enough to pickup and go. I was afraid of worrying my parents, and what people would think if I just up and left home. I was pretty much stuck in the suburbs, main stream, nine to five, afraid to live my own life, and I sure did envy the people who followed their dreams and lived their life the way they wanted. That song brought it all back.
