Loved your reaction! The bass singer, Avi, is an opera trained basso profundo, lowest of the low, and he was known for blowing out speakers and shaking concert halls. They may have put something on his voice, but he really does sound like that, even without a mic, so they can sing it live. He left PTX in 2017 after 6 years, but he still gets reactors jumping out of their chairs.

The thing about Avi Kaplans voice....he's a bass but has a rich melodious timber thats extremely rare. Hes not the lowest but in my opinion the most beautiful voice out there.

You should watch their journey from the beginning when they were on the Sing Off. The aren't as refined as they are now, but you'll be pleasantly surprised, PLUS you'll see that it's literally ALL them! Fun fact, the Trio (Scott, Mitch, and Kirstie) met with Kevin and Avi only a couple of days before they auditioned for the show.

This is one of my absolute favorite covers of theirs. Jason did his thing, but I can't help but concentrate on Scott's ad libs and runs during the bridge. Especially since that's not in the original (which, as a lover of 90s R&B, I know is a classic)

Mike, this song is how I got my wife to fall in love with me. But this Pentatonix remake is a new level. I imagine this is what Naturally 7 would have sounded like if they covered it 15 years ago. And since I now know you like acapella R&B, you definitely need to check out Naturally 7. I was in the studio when they first record and they blew away Shai, Boys II Men, Jodeci, New Edition, BBD, Silk, etc...

to think this all came about because Jason Derulo was walking past Kevin at some awards show backstage and kevin stopped him to say hey and said 'we should do a song together sometime' and he agreed. lol this is also the first time i realized Jason could actually sing because before this all i'd heard was those little poppy silly titled songs he'd released that could have been autotuned, but we all know ptx never uses that!

If you like Avi´s base notes (Avi is the bearded guy), you should watch PTX´ cover of Hallelujah! Or his own song Change on the rise! Both songs have some pretty crazy notes in them. I also recommend PTX´ cover of Aha! But react to the live version of Singapur! It´s amazing!
