‘Brothershagy’, is a pure original comedy. As good as they come, for the Nigerian scene and audience! I’m truly happy on many levels. One, to know that Nigerians still know and appreciate good things. In the area of arts, in this instance, theatre arts and allied shows, we are still capable of not only yearning for the best, but truly, truly capable of recognising, appreciating and producing them. Just as we used to of ‘Mirror in the Sun’, ‘Second Chance’, Cockcrow at Dawn’, Village Headmaster’ and many other Nigerian ‘Classics’ of yore. At least, for those of us who witnessed and were raised on the culture of open and transparent competition and ancillary performances. Certainly, one of the fundamental criteria we must revert, if we must make progress, generally. Given the overwhelming positive and excellent comments pouring in, and justifiably so, it only goes to show we only settle for contemporary mediocrity, now, as in other fields, because of dire frustration. That realisation is, understandably, overwhelmingly heartwarming for me. Personally, I thought all hope was finally lost, given the unspeakable terrible situation, and atmosphere we are currently enveloped. ‘Brothershagy’, in its own little, but mighty way, has convinced me, once again, that the potential is still there for us in Nigeria. With good leadership, it wouldn’t take long for us to erase our shameful past, current ignoble situation and blaze the trail, again, in any field! Shame on those who continue to draw us back for their selfish reasons. We shall overcome them!
