I could never understand why Chris didn't become hugely famous. I became aware of him, like most everyone, when "Wicked Game" came out. I immediately bought all three of his (then) albums and every one since then. Saw him in concert at a small venue in Atlanta in 1991 (or was it 1992?). He is even better live. I guess most people just have bad taste in music.
@ShelleyMagner7 жыл бұрын
He's hugely famous in our hearts, yes? I hope Mr. Isaak would find this most worthy; especially when he composes his songs to the most adoring fans out there (like us :) ). The first time I heard this song was on a random disc my husband at the time put together for me. At night, by myself, driving, I chose this song over and over for its purity; then later saw the video. There is no doubt that Chris Isaak's main influence is Roy Orbison. What a beautiful homage he does pay. I better get my ass in gear and see him live before either of us all die. Enough of that! Peace and love to all.

It’s strange when you think about it. Most of the people with not only the best voices, lyrics etc. aren’t very popular. But I guess in some way that’s okay, because they’re our hidden treasures that most people nowadays don’t know about 😉

I’ve listened to the album Heart Shaped World straight through at least a hundred times. Driving with headphones on is the best, for me. Every little nuance of sound is so emotive, from the wire brush on the snare to the muted trumpet to the fingering on the guitar fretboard. Beautifully engineered.

Only the strongest person can continuously rise above it all and stay pure. I am thinking about what made Cris create such music. What feeling he has. I am thinking about my girlfriend. We went to forest and watched the clouds roll by on her 20. I am thinking about my godmother. Who was a fine woman, until 25. And after that her body started to go against her. And now she can't go out of the flat... More then 20 years later. Her husband drunk, was very rude to her, and beat her. He died. Her mother fell and died. She is living alone, and sometimes relatives and friends come by. She is constantly tired, in a constant pain. I am very critical to art despite of who created it, but she has this strange perfect taste in art, creates a beautiful bijou. She does not make money on it thou. I am thinking of her life. How it is sad and heavy, bitter, small and in vain, and I can't believe she keeps rejoice this world. How? This is why tears in my eyes while I hear this music, and that is a moment of intense feeling, and also a moment I proud that I am a man and that man's soul cries so tenderly and ephemerally. And now I also play his song. Thanks, Isaak for not looking at anyone, and saying what you know is right to say, and what is to hold inside yourself. Such man is so much needed for men, he helps the Bluebird of Bukowski fly. I am thinking about everyone.

When I was a wild man in my 20's, I must have listened to this song/ Wrong to love you/You Owe me some kind of love/ Blue Hotel/ Lie too me and others 1,000's of times. I'd play his cd's going to bed, in the car, at work, in the garage. If you haven't figured it out yet Chris's music was break up music for men lol. It really was, got me through an entire decade of singleness and he was always there for me. Thank you Chris Isaak 😉 If your a younger dude and reading this and aren't familiar with his music, start with the songs I listed above and then listen to all of CDs. This will take your getting over a breakup game to other levels.
