God bless this man. At 81 years of age, this living legend is STILL giving audiences the thrill of a lifetime!! "The Twist" has the sole recognition of being the ONLY RECORD EVER TO REACH #1 TWICE on the Billboard Hot 100 charts - both in 1960 AND 1962!!!! In 2008, Chubby's "Twist" was named "THE BIGGEST CHART HIT OF ALL TIME" by Billboard Magazine. To his own dismay, Ernest Evans (real name) was never elected into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, reducing that institution to little more than a meaningless farce. #rockandrollhalloffame

Whats great about the twist is that its a pretty straightforward and easy dance to pull off. Meaning everyone on the dance floor can pick it up in minutes and even put their own little spin on it if desired. Fun song and dance which is now pretty much iconic. The scene in Madmen with Peggy twisting toward Pete was televised perfection.

One of the reasons that I so cherish my friendship with my NINETY-SIX (96) YEAR-OLD friend Gene, are the glimpses that he provides me into History's past. When Gene was a boy growing up in Mississippi in the early 1940's, he and his mother had to scrub their clothes on a washboard to get them clean. In the 1940's when "Chubby Checker" saw his 1st automatic washing machine, it was REVOLUTIONARY! No longer would he have to toil at the washboard, getting less than ideal results. Chubby was tickled by the "twisting" motion that the machine made as it agitated the clothes in the soapy water. He laughed, "Won't you look at that thing TWIST!" And.. the rest is "Music History!" Knowing that Paul McCartney was a huge fan of Buddy Holly specifically and American Rock & Roll, in general, I guess that Chubby Checker's hit song inspired Paul & John to write "Twist & Shout."

This song unified people in dance Nationwide. So many dances were spin-off from this icon. Who remembers the swim, the jerk, the dirty dog? Others??❤❤❤

I was so fortunate to get to see him second row in concert in the early 2000s. He sounded just like his albums, didn't need anything to make him sound good. Sang a verse of a song to me. A totally awesome concert!!!

The official lyrics say, "Come on little miss, let's do the twist," but it surely sounds like something else to me.

I’m olive skinned - a 1st Nations woman - and still love listening to music that helps me remember that there was a time when it never mattered about the origin , but about the condition of the heart .. I’m not prejudiced , but bad behaviour is unacceptable at any age now ..
