Many batsman in the past have been unfairly called out. As frustrating as it is, it’s still part of the game to accept the umpires decision and move on. The difference is that the umpire gave him NOT OUT while the third umpire made the mistake even with all the modern technology. Rescinding the OUT decision was the right thing to do and common sense prevailed even though the batsman walked off the field in this unusual situation.

It took them so long to realize that the rules regarding batter leaving the field has been changed not too long ago. Even if the batter went home and the decision was reversed before the next delivery was bowled he can be called back. That is the MCC and ICC law!

My first thought was plumb lbw, so don't blame the on-field umpire. Once the referral for review is made, the decision is out of his hands. But the replay CLEARLY shows a deflection just before the ball hits the pad which could only have come from an inside edge. It would be easy for the on-field umpire to miss, but how the 3rd umpire missed this with the benefit of technology, I cannot believe. However, the laws say that, once a player has stepped over the boundary rope, the decision cannot be rescinded and the batsman recalled without the consent of the opposing captain. They can only be recalled if they were under a misapprehension that they had been dismissed.
