As a chemist I know why it was anti-climactic. Ice makes it explode because it flash-vaporizes to steam and won't mix with oil. CO2 already sublimates and will mix with oil so it just, turns to gas and disperses. If you want an explosion do this again with water instead of oil.

The next video should be the same experiment but with a propane tank that's almost empty (approximately 10% left or w/e). Then with the flame still on put the dry ice in. Though before putting in the dry ice, test the temperature with a infrared temperature gun (rated for at least around 500F). 400-450F is the smoke point (burn/flammable point) of vegetable oil. Also submerge the dry ice in water for at least 30 seconds before putting it in the frying strainer pan.

You gotta use normal ice if you want the explosion. Frozen water in a fryer is incredibly dangerous though, or just water in general actually. So yeah, just get a lot of ice and you’re good to go
