I tried to save a fly from drowning once. While swimming in an above ground pool, I scooped the little guy up, and placed him on the edge. He was still in a puddle and struggling. So I thought i should gently flick him to the ground. He ended up sailing through the air, and landed right in a spider's web on the under side of the pool deck. I watched, horrified, as a giant spider sprang into action, and leapt upon the defenseless fly. Not my best moment.
