This game actually ended when an Eagles receiver caught a 60-yard Hail Mary bomb from Randall deep in Falcons territory with about 10 seconds to play, but because of the timeout that they stupidly called, they didn't have any left and weren't able to get up to the line to clock the ball before time expired.

I remember around 94 or 95 when old man Hess had that press conference where he came out and said he was getting up there in age and he wanted to bring the Jets and their fans another Super Bowl title before he died. He spoke about how much he loved the team and how the fans have suffered for far too long and he wanted to go out as the owner of a Championship caliber team. I got choked up when he said it even though I didnt care about the Jets. It came off as so honest and sincere I forgot about everything else and couldnt help but root for him. Of course all that goodwill went right out the window when he introduced RICH FREAKING KOTITE as the coach Hess believed was going to bring the Jets to the Super Bowl. Rich Kotite, a guy who ran a great Eagles team into the ground. A guy who hasnt worked in football in any capacity since 1996. Not as an assistant coach for another NFL team. Not as a D-1, D-2 or even an NAIA or JuCo team. He didnt even sneak in somewhere as a high school coach somewhere in Texas long after people had forgotten that he was at one time the coach of 2 NFL teams, a coach that ran those 2 NFL teams into the ground. He was gone and so were the hopes of every Jets fan for the next 2 years. Burn in Hell, Hess!!!

One other thing that makes this stupid: The clock was stopped when the penalty was announced. Therefore, since the Eagles were declining the penalty, they could have signaled in a play while the penalty was being announced. That would have allowed the Eagles to get to the line to try to run a play and have enough time to change the play if the called play didn’t work. If no play worked for them and the play clock was running out the Eagles THEN could have punted. Then again this proves my point, which is unless you’re Kevin Kelley of Pulaski Academy or the situation is obvious, coaches don’t know what to do on fourth down. This was not an obvious situation.

The seven game skid to end the '94 season and the two woeful years with the Jets saw Kotite go 4-35, no surprise that he never coached again in the NFL in any capacity. This was the same day as the Marino Fake Spike game, which devastated the Jets and led to them firing Pete Carroll and hiring this guy.

Your Hawks/76ers reference aged very poorly. The 6ers did the equivalent of 28-3. Funny because it was against an Atlanta team.

Kotite wanted his punter back another 10 yards rather than risk a touchback. Not saying it makes sense. He had faith in his defense. But a QB sneak or a drop back where Cunningham scrambles out for a yard would’ve been so easy. Kotite was a good man but not meant to be a head coach in the NFL. He kind of fell off the face of the pro football earth after being fired by the Jets.

P.S. the Sixers are too immature to win a championship 💯 and the brunt of that immaturity, one Ben "Kardashian" Simmons #factz

At, least, the Eagles, later, got their revenge on the Falcons, in 2017, and, for, some extra bite, they did what they couldn't, they successfully, Drove, The, Stake, Into, Tom Brady's, Heart.

Dumb decision - yes, but NOT worse than spiking the ball on that play.
