The problem with the MJF stuff, is the fact that it's great but wasted. This is the kind of story that is great to keep something as an attraction that people want to see week to week that isn't involving the world title. This is the sort of story that MJF should be using to keep himself relevant while he's waiting for his next tirn at the gold.

The event name is probably/obviously from the George Patton nickname -- "Old Blood and Guts". From historian Alan Axelrod: "He wanted his officers who he trained to know what they were going to expect in battle. He [Patton] said to them, 'You're going to be up to your neck in blood and guts.' This made quite an impression, and it stuck and from that point on, he was known as 'Old Blood and Guts.'"

The MJF-Cole thing confuses me. I thought I’d hate it, but I love it, but I also see that it’s a bad idea in terms of coming across as legit. Part of me thinks it’s a meta-commentary on the “I love you, you’re my best friend but you break my heart” shit that the Bucks and Adam Page do. Maybe MJF will reveal he was doing the phoney skits as part of a wider plan to dupe Cole until he screws him over. He’s done that meta stuff before, talking in two registers- one where he’s kayfabe, one where he’s not. That’s how I rationalise it. Rationalise, repress, whatever you want to call it.
