Hi Jonghyun. I came to hear you again. Do you remember me? We went to the same middle school for 1 year, then I moved to the United States in 2004, and I thought I'd never hear from you again. Time passed, I forgot you, you forgot me, blah blah blah. 13 years passed, to be exact. Then I saw on the news. "Hallyu Star Jonghyun tragically takes his own life". I had forgotten you for over a decade already. But the second I saw you on the news, I knew it was you. Do you remember me? You probably don't anymore. After all, we weren't even that close. But I still remember you clearly. Your bright smile, caring personality, strong will, incredible talent in singing, everything. I especially remember in 2004 when you were performing with your band at the school. Man, that performance touched my heart. We both changed a lot. I'm here in the United States, having buried my wife and parents who died to the pandemic, working 24 hours a day and going on forced diets to feed my 2 beautiful children. I would be lying to say I'm in a good place right now. I can't imagine how you must have felt. When I was attempting to enter my workplace, the interviewer asked me this question: What is your biggest regret in life? At that time, I didn't have one. But it was made clear on that morning of December 18, 2017. Not sending you a word of encouragement: that was and still is my biggest regret. When I instantly recognized you, I hoped I didn't. I hoped it was a horrible dream and that I would wake up. I still do. I've learned that God plays a cruel game, taking away the most beautiful angels to tend to his garden. Jonghyun, thank you for existing in my life, even though it was only one year. Thank you for every word you uttered, every step you walked, every beverage you drank, every stage you took over, every song you composed. Every breath you took, every doubt you conquered. Thank you for every breath. Do you remember me? You probably don't. But that's ok. Because I, and the millions of other people who were fans of you will, and we will pass on your legacy. 진짜 이 노래는... 몇 년 전 부모님 이혼하네 마네 싸울 때 귀에 이어폰 꽂고 듣던 노래인데... 반복재생해서 노래 들으면서 울었던 기억이 나네요. 그 당시 너무 힘들 땐 이 노래 들으면서 위로 받았는데... 힘든 시기 지나고 나서는 이 노래 들으면 그때가 생각나서, 좋아하는 노래여도 듣지 못했는데... 조금 더 시간이 지나고 나서야 다시 생각나서 듣게 되네요. 이제는 그때의 힘든 일도 거의 잊혀져서 노래를 다시 들어도 괜찮은 것 같아요. 모두들 이렇게 힘든 시절이 지나고 웃으면서 다시 들을 수 있는 노래가 되면 좋겠네요.

Since day one, this song became my comfort song for everything. I'm still going through a lot, but a lot more than when this song came out, when I was 23. Somedays I wish I could just give up, but I have to force myself to breathe through things. Jonghyun left us, alongside Lee Hi, this valuable lesson. He knew. He knew blingers would need this confort. I know I find more confort in this song than in every other song I could ever listen. And even so, I break down in tears every single time I hear it, every single time I remember that performance, where Lee Hi doesn't find strenght to sing it all through, becase of such pain she was at the time.
