This is why they are one of my favourite bands. All of them are multi-talented. Phil was a pianist turned drummer, Mark was drummer turned bassist. Mike was also percussionist. Boon was boon :) When they created this music they put all their knowledge into each song like 43. But here you can see the talent of all of them working in sync with each other. One of the tightest bands ever.

I'm only 28 years old, I found these guys after picking up bass guitar (as you might imagine haha) I grew up listening to punk, rock and was a dubstep dj for about 12 years. Level 42 has become my favorite band easily, they are simply so fun and astounding musicians. That drum section in the breakdown of the song was out of control. I've been trying to master this song on bass for over a year an jeeze it's still a work in progress.

Magical sounding - the pounding thunderous deep drums. In Europe, I bought a Sonor Signature Series drumset (w/West African Bubinga wood shells) Roto-toms, Zildjian, Paiste and Meinl symbols. Thank you so much for inspiring me, from the very beginning.

I cant remember if i.commentated on this particular track as it was great to see them put in the percussive break & then go back and play the rest of this instrumental, which they always did it thf early years up to about the " True Colours " Album when theyd use it on tracks like " Kouyate " & they would usually finish the song off the percussive ending as that song had lyrics rather than just an instrumental... They a percussionist whp toured with them fir a few year's & im sure youll ser him on the 2 Concerts for the Price of 1 which was Live on the German Tv Show which akin to " The Tube " which was aired in the UK but in that show the bands only had about 3 songs maximum were as on Rockpalast they allowed solo acts to do a full live set... You should have a look at how many of the big acts at that time played over in Germany thst came from all over Europe/UK & America & everyone/if memory serves me correctly were all big bands like The Police as an example & no doubt yiull be able tk buy those Live Gigs on DVD now... When i git the Level 42 Live at Rockpalast i was happy at just getting those one by Level 42 but now im going to look into how many you can buy on DVD, as Talking Heads & Blondie were another 2 ive just remembered... In light of this still ongoing coronavirus outbreak stay safe & healthy wherever you are in this world... .....

You too Mate. Wasn't it Leroy Williams who was Their percussionist back in the day? I fucking love this Band.
@greatwhite619673 жыл бұрын
@@davecoalwood9487 Yes Leroy Williams played with Level 42 in the early 80s & you'll find him playing along with the original line up at the Rockpolast 1983 , I think he played on 2 show at the Rockalast & I think it was a year earlier... Good news if you don't already know is those 2 LIVE Shows at the Rockpolast can be bough on 1 DVD which was a German TV show that went on to have the who's of who of the best solo acts but predominately bands appearing on their show & I managed to record 1 Live Show from my local TV Channels & the other Live Show was on 1 year later & I recorded & put both on one VHS Tape but I have absolutely no idea what happened to it... I'm not sure as to when they started putting the Rockpolast Live Shows on DVD but obviously someone knew there was a huge profit to be had should they do this & you can get practically all of the acts that appeared on that show on DVD , Plus the converted it from 4.3 Aspect Ratio to Full Wide-screen to modern TV's & they also made the audio more up to date... You can easily find Level 42 Live At Rockpolast on Amazon or most online stores that would deal with most things from the music industry & you get " both concerts on one DVD " I bought my copy over 10 year's ago & as I watched these 2 shows it hit me again that , for many years I forgot , that Leroy Williams played with them on Percussion for Level 42... I can't check my copy as most of my stuff is still in sealed boxes from when I moved to my new home... I always wondered why with that line up did they not continue to work together or vice versa as by the time they released " Pursuit Of Accidents " album he wasn't on it playing percussion & it didn't surprise that Level 42 split when they did as they moved away from a hugh core of fusion funk rock with some improv jazz that had held them in good stead & many fan's didn't like their ongoing movement from their earlier fusion roots to playing more pop sounding records... Why Leroy didn't play with them longer is something only Leroy & Level 42 could clear up but once Leroy was gone so was an important part of their overall sound & I wish they had stayed working together but that's the Music Industry for you & you just never know what is going to happen next... When I said the latter I meant in the Music Industry's heyday & nothing like today's Music Industry... Which I believe it only takes 10,000 physical or digital downloaded versions of a song can get it to Number 1 & thats the sad state of affairs with how the Music Industry has become non existence... In light of this still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy wherever you are... .....
