Right? An instrument my mind associates with Australia. The country built by criminals left to die there by the British. Yet they thrive and gave the biggest middle finger to England in doing so. Loved that it was used here, a symbol of absolute resilience and rebellion.

You'll probably never see this but: I work in childcare, ages 5 to 12. I talk with them about bullying, both being one and being on the receiving end and I often play this song and discuss what it means. Sometimes, music says more and can be understood easier then me simply saying things. They love this song, by the way. So, thank you for writing it and putting it out. Know that somewhere, you're helping a group of kids with their confidence and letting them know it's ok to stand up for yourself. (I play a lot of clean alt metal at work. pretty sure some parents dislike me for it lol)

As someone who has worked with pre-k through 5th grade kids in the past, I can see why the parents hate you. If you have not asked their permission to show this kind of thing to their kids before and you are working with YOUNG children, it will ALWAYS be bad and get you in trouble. 5 year Olds should not be exposed to this kind of thing period. Elementary kids, you need a permission slip from parents. If it were middle schoolers, it might be okay, but anytime you teach anything not in the curriculum that parents expect, it has a possibility of coming back to bite you. Maybe ask the parents first next time.
@ayumiving
@ayumiving 9 ай бұрын
@@Sakachi18 lol ok, well, as someone who has worked with children from ages 6 months to 12 years for well over 20 years, allow me to enlighten you. Everything I play is clean. Any parents who dislike me for it, have misconceptions about this genre of music. It has nothing to do with the content of the song itself. I always give resources and explanations as to why it's being played. They are free to read the lyrics and ask any questions they want. The children never watch the video. I don't even play the video for "It's Raining Tacos" since we have a strict no-screen policy. I don't need a permission slip for music of any genre. I don't work in a school. This cirriculum that you mention means nothing to me. I work in childcare. I work in a daycare/after-school care centre. Here in Alberta, we have what's called FLIGHT (they use caps not me). You can look it up if you want. Basically, the children lead the way in learning. We use their interests to plan and that can change one month to the next or from day to day. So long as the music is clean in content and language, it's all good. By the way, I also play classical (baroque period is my personal favourite), opera (Aida is the best one around) jazz, hip hop, rap, and traditional music from all over the world. I play all sorts of music because it helps the children learn many things. If you worked with children, I shouldn't have to explain what those things are. Now for the song itself. This song is an anti-bullying song. I'm sure you can research yourself about the lead singer's experiences in school and understand why he wrote it. I use this song to teach several things: don't judge something until you personally experience it, that it's ok to have confidence enough to say "I'm me and if you don't like it, take a hike. I don't care.", it's a great sensory experience since most of them only listen to pop and don't really know how other music can sound, music lessons (noticing the beats, changes in instruments, high and low notes, flat notes etc), dancing to this music is a great gross motor activity. Most importantly, I use this song as a launch pad for conversations about bullying. Anything from being a bully to getting help and how to handle them. This is vital since children are being abused by their peers everyday. Music can be a great aid in that. If parents have an issue with how I do it, that's on them. I watched my daughter go so down hill because of bullying, that I had to rush her the hospital so she wouldn't commit suicide. Twice. At 25, she still deals with what those abusive people did to her. Yes, it is abuse. Schools did nothing. The school board did nothing and when she was a kid, I couldn't bring in the cops. So, I will not stop playing anti-bullying songs, no matter what the genre of music. I will not stop using them to help children realize the behaviour needs to stop and it's ok to have enough confidence to get help or tell the bully off. Parents who have issues with it are free to talk to me. I'm very transparent about everything. If the rare one still has an issue, that has to do with personal prejudice and not the music. That, once again, is on them. I'm not stopping.
@Sakachi18
@Sakachi18 9 ай бұрын
@ayumiving You work in a DAYCARE and your boss lets you do this? Wow. I guess where you live really does make a difference in what you can get away with. In all the courses I took about young children and their minds development and what was allowed and what was not, music like this was NEVER allowed. So when I began working with the kids, everything was done safe, clean and child friendly. Kids talking about their interests was encouraged if it could be incorporated into a lesson, but if the child's interest was something this heavy, then it was not allowed and we were supposed to keep them from sharing it with the other children if possible. The meaning behind the lyrics doesn't matter, if the song is screaming harsh and angry, it is not supposed to be played around young children since it impacts their development when they are young and can turn them into angry people. Even if the meaning behind the song is a positive one. Parents would KILL if I played anything like this to their young children. It is what permission slips are for. But I suppose daycare vs actual schools may be a bit different and you may be able to get away with a bit more. But still, I would think daycare still would be held to some kind of regulations about this if they have young children in the fold. Okay, but you are NOT the child's parent. Even if you think there is nothing wrong with it, it doesn't matter what the parent's reason is, if they do not want their child exposed to something, then you MUST respect that. If the parent says they don't believe in their child having any exposure to sugar, then you can't just slip the child a bit and say a bit won't kill them, you have to respect that parent and not let their kid have any sugar. You are being trusted to look after their child while they are away, protect their child in their place, not RAISE their child the way you want when they don't. Things like this may seem silly to you, but research backs it up, certain sounds can be classified as angry, calming, cheerful, etc. And while I personally like music like this song, it is proven that songs like this sound angry and can affect the person listening to it and put them in a more aggravated state sometimes. So even if the message is good, the way the song is played is NOT young child friendly. It's like why we don't let 13 year Olds play M rated video games. I'm not trying to tell you that you are the worst or that you should be stripped of your license and not be allowed to work around kids anymore or anything, bit did you really not get taught any of this stuff when you were taking your childcare, child development or educations courses? This is pretty standard stuff. It's honestly no wonder that some parents are seeing what their kids are being shown and getting mad, and you could save yourself a LOT of trouble by separating what is taught to the kids based on age range. Keeping the 6 year Olds separate from the 12 year Olds for things like this can really help. 👍

When you are hated by the world around you, have dealt the harshest demons. You are beloved for standing in the rain, withstanding the hurricane force winds and not giving in to the temptation of the heart and flesh. Because you get stronger and not weaker, because suicide is not an option. You are truly kings and queens for withstanding hell andbeing given a million chances to believe that all things are possible through Christ!! Tested and proven will get to heaven!

Actually this isn't really just a romantic song. It works even as a non-romantic song - a message to those who don't like you the way you are and keep troubling you. That's thanks to the wonderful lyrics.

I never understood why rock was considered satanic, since through such a genre you send a true message. If you don't identify with violence, metal rock can be very soothing and relaxing. Like🖐
