I wish people would stop comparing EVERY Christine with Sierra Boggess. I am OBSESSED with Sierra and I always have been but ... damn like chill out with “not as good as Sierra”..I recently saw Kelly in a show at her majesty’s theater and she was fantastic. so much better than the one I saw on broadway. She is definitely one of my favorite Christine’s. she was sick during this performance so take it easy on her!

I think every christine is good (except for the movie’s christine 💀) and was chosen for a reason. But I think the reason they do that is whenever they go watch another person, aside from Sierra, sing, they expect for an equally good or even better performance. For me, this girl lacks emotion. I expected a sad aura from her during the “wishing you were somehow here again” but disappointed to have found none. And during the POTO, the phantom caressed her face but all she gave was a constipated look. Other than those two she’s actually good. 💖

Dan Slayurrr I seriously love her. she was fantastic when I saw her at west end. sometimes being sick really throws people off. I personally liked her emotions and her twist on it but again I understand everyones opinions! but constantly comparing every. Single. Christine. To Sierra is so annoying!! Jessica Mabb I’d place him first in my mind, as watching him live was ghostly and imposing, which is certainly what the Phantom should be. If you love Ramin, you should try and go see the show on a day Luke McCall (the understudy) is playing Phantom. He was a mixture of both Ramin and Crawford in vocals and performance, was incredible.

pkmaniac Sadly that was just the case at the show, the balancing was off for most of the performances, making vocals hard to hear. So it’s the fault of the sound designers I’m afraid.

Wow, stunning performance, it's the same as the one with Ramon and Sierra of many years ago! Anyway, I love so much Ben, he portrays a realy phantom, very seductive and at the same time very dark and dangerous. And about Kelly, at first I thought she had a lower voice than the other Christines that I've heard but then at the end I was positively stuck with her acting and voice. Brilliant as always ❤

Even though I’ve only seen Ben as the Phantom in LND, I feel like his performance is probably a little different in Phantom than most other actors, like it did for Ramin in the 25th anniversary. Despite everyone bringing something different to the role, Ben Lewis really does embody it. He plays it imposing, ghostly and intimidating at one point, and jumps to childish, angry and aggressive like nothing. He adds a lot of sorrow to The Phantom, and his voice commands the entire theatre when you’re there. He is, in my mind, the best to ever do it. I’m talking from a Phantom fan in general, from the book to every movie (minus the awful Gerard Butler movie) and both the musicals.

Every actor gives a little of his own interpretation of the character to it. Personally I really like Ben Forster's version of the Phantom because he shows a little bit more of the mental struggle the phantom has with himself. But others sometimes focus more on the connection between them and Christine.

Iris Bosch I've never thought of this! 😱 It's exactly like she says before she sings 'Wishing': she is just little Lottie, the girl who lost her father too soon and remained alone. I believe that's why the angel of music means so much to her: she feels like her father is still with her. She's nothing but a child, a waif who needs protection (ups, Anastasia reference here 😅).

I've seen Phantom of the Opera three time, all in Her Majesty's Theatre, and all performed by Kelly and Ben. To be honest, every fxxking time when I see it, i was always wondering if the musics were just recorded in studio and played in the theatre (I know its not)😂 JUST SO DAMN PERFECT!!! EVERY FXXKING TIME!!! I actually like this pair of Christine and Phantom, Kelly's performance shows vulnerability of Christine, curiosity and obssesion to Phantom; and Ben shows a powerful phantom (probably could be more seductive in this version, but absolutely perfect in the theatre version).

In this clip, Kelly is ill, probably the flu. I saw Kelly at Her Majesty in London recently with David Thaxton. and she was really amazing! Do not judge her after this clip, because she is much better than that (when she is healthy) in my opinion she was almost better than Sierra at Her Majesty. and then I'm otherwise big fan to Sierra.

Am I the only one not really impressed with Kelly? I'm not sure if it's her voice or her acting. Her voice sounds fairly low for christine and her acting, there just wasn't a lot of it. Especially for Wishing I didn't think that she truly got what the song was about, I didn't see someone trying to let go of their fathers memory and forgive him for resentments they have, I see someone singing a song and trying to make it pretty. Ben was an a amazing phantom however. I haven't seen them perform, and maybe on a full stage she's better but Kelly really fell flat for me Edit: I did not realize Kelly was sick, so I take back my comments on the high notes. The acting is a little more understandable as well, but I am still entitled to my opinion. I did say I hadn't seen her on the west end, so she could be better, and she is an actor and I doubt my comment will keep her from acting. She seems good, but not my favorite, that's all I have to say

Kelly had a really bad cold, went ahead and did this event anyway, but had to miss the regularly scheduled performances at Her Majesty's after WEL. So she's not at her very best in this performance, but she still did damn well for someone who is sick.

That hair bounce tho. I think too many people get too defensive about how an actor portrays their characters. And portraying an actress/actor to another is just plain wrong. This industry, you take the music and make it yours AND keep it identical. It's a very hard profession and yes, they have to take criticism, sometimes very brutal criticism, but hell - I'd like to see some of those negatives on here reach the notes she was touching while ILL.

This is uncharacteristically bad for Kelly Mathieson. I regularly go to Her Majesty's and I've seen Kelly's performance for more than 5 times. I read somewhere in this comment section saying she was sick and maybe that's why. Normally she is by far my favourite Christine. Her voice normally (not showing in this video) is extremely clean and soft despite hitting such high notes with intensity, which you don't see from any Christines including Sierra Boggess.
