I used to think that, with a few notable exceptions, Lou had lost it after leaving the Velvets. As I’ve grown older, I realise that I was soooooooo wrong. The fragility and sadness of this song connect back with early songs like Waiting For The Man but add a very dark humour and even R&B musicality that mollifies the darkness. Is it about a fleeting relationship or a plea of only experimenting with drugs? More likely both. Genius.

I remember whenever a fan felt overwhelmed with anticipation of a Lou Reed concert about ready to begin, periodically someone in the crowd would in a very specific intonation and above all the din go, Lou REED! The greatest compliment they could utter and all anyone could really say.

Street Urban Music. Before Rap. LOU REED is Godfather of Punk. Great song off Rock n Roll Heart . Actually best song on album. Vicious Circle is pretty cool as well. Seen the tour way back in 76. Played the song live. Better than original.

Love this. Out of his solo stuff, this, Dirt, Street Hassle, and The Gun all stand out to me. But I fucking love everything of his that I've heard of. One of a kind. I've got the albums Lou Reed and Transformer at home and I love all the songs on those particularly Perfect Day, Walk on the Wild Side, Vicious, Andy's Chest, Satellite of Love, and Hangin' Round.
