While Xmas themes would be the obvious choice, it's your journey into my history I like seeing. Without knowing what you both would prefer since current examples are 'tainted' by Patreon polling - 70's film? 60's? (my childhood) This is the only channel I've found where the reactors are more about the art and appreciation of the details - front and behind the camera which entertains. The Seven Faces of Dr. Lao - or - The Incredible Mr. Limpet both are great examples of Original Fantasy in cinema during the 60's.

Trading Places was Eddie Murphy's second film. He was 21 when Trading Places was filmed. I would also recommend his first film 48 hours, it is a buddy cop film with some comedy. You will probably enjoy it since you liked Lethal Weapon.

Fragile hearts shouldn’t be in the reaction business imo or at least they should let us see their authentic reactions to things they find outrageous or appalling.

Great reaction this is a class movie. Other than all movies that have already been mention, Eddie isnt know for his serious parts but he can do them. The Golden Child is a classic also within Charles Dance as the antagonist. Eddie plays a finder of missing children. It's a movie I think you guys would enjoy.

The guy sitting behind the desk at the police station that is telling Winthrop about the angel dust is Frank Oz, he was a long time puppeteer for Sesame Street. He did the voice of Grover and he has done the voice of Yoda in all of the Star Wars movies. Also the guy at the pawn shop is Bo Diddley, at the time he was a very popular blues guitarist and singer.

Also voice of Miss Piggy. Bo Diddley was an artist from the 50's. A guitarist so iconic there's a beat named after him. Bo Diddley, nicknamed “the Originator” for his role in the transition from blues to rock and roll, drove music into a new era with his rollicking rhythms and edgy guitar.

Best Eddie Murphy movie, hands down, was his first, 48 Hrs. Nick Nolte co- starred, who was a huge leading man in the 80s and 90s. It was also the template for all the cop buddy movies that filled cinemas ever since.

Another Eddie Murphy movie I can't recommend enough is The Golden Child (1986) it's an underrated gem, in it he plays a social worker tasked with rescuing a gifted kid with magical powers who can prevent the end of the world. & a Dan Akroyd movie I highly recommend is The Blues Brothers (1980) it's a comedy musical (also directed by John Landis) in which he stars along with the late John Belushi as blues musicians getting their old band back together to raise the money needed to save their childhood orphanage. Along the way, they fall foul of the police, neo nazi's and a rival band. Please react to both as soon as you can :)

This movie came out in 1983 and was Eddie Murphy's 2nd movie. Hard to believe you haven't seen it until now. He also did his stand up comedy special DELIRIOUS in 1983. His first movie was 48 HOURS in 1982. All this while he was still a cast member on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE from 1980 to mid 1984.

When it comes to seafood most start with fish fingers, then fish an chips, where you might try the odd scampi or squid. Then we move on up to prawn cocktail and from there deep fried prawns. After this we cross in salmon and sea bass. From there the seafood world is (forgive the pun) your oyster... I still haven't tried oysters..and only lobster once which I didn't enjoy.

When Denise made the comment about comedy being hard t caught my attention. I have been a long time member of toastmasters and have achieved some success in public speaking. Doing comedy whether in a speech or other presentation can be exhausting! It is a lot of work being funny! When Dustin Hoffman was interviewed about his movie Tootsie. In talking about comedy he even got emotional. One of his statements stuck with me he said "comedy is serious business". SO insightful!

I don't know why but here in Italy this film is a Christmas classic, they have been broadcasting it on one of the main television networks for practically 40 years, we are now so used to it that the few times they haven't broadcast it there have been protests!!! Here the title has been translated into: "an armchair for two". One of the films most loved by Italians

Great reaction and some fun-facts about this movie. The cop in booking that finds the PCP on Louis was Frank Oz, the famous puppeteer and voice for Yoda and many other Muppets and characters like Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Grover and Cookie Monster. He plays a similar role in Blues Brothers. And the the pawn broker is played by the one-and-only rock and rol hall of fame Bo Diddley. There are other Cameos too like, Richard Hunt as Wilson as a stock market trader, Al Franken as a Baggage Handler in the train, a young Giancarlo Esposito as a cellmate when Eddie character is in jail, and Jamie Lee Curtis younger sister Kelly Curtis as a cameo too as Penelope's friend Muffy on the scene in the country club. Al Franken and his comedy writing partner, Tom Davis, played the two baggage handlers on the train. According to Franken, the script originally had a scene where the two of them smoked a joint on the train, but the scene was cut because they decided to have Eddie Murphy smoke a joint in the bathroom instead. The result: Al and Tom were playing "stoned" through all their scenes, but without the smoking scene, they're just a couple of really dumb guys.

All those early 80s to 90s movies, involving directing by frank Oz, (he always puts himself in his movies...look for the bald guy with glasses!) and films involved with acting writing etc., with Ramis, Ivan Reitman,Akroyd etc., and these monster comedies that first used the ultra serious John Williams for music!!!, was just all comedy genius! Going back to animal House, blues Brothers, stripes, of course the Ghostbusters stuff....it's just all comedy gold! I love early Eddie Murphy. I like some of his more recent work but not quite as much as his classic movies. Beverly Hills Cop is one of his best. The ending to Trading Places is so satisfying 😊

So the short of what happened at the end was because the orange crops weren't affected by winter, then there would large amounts of cheap oranges. The Dukes thought the crops were affected, so instead of selling high then buying low, they bought high then sold low. Aykroyd and Murphy knew the real crop report so they sold high and bought low. The numbers they showed on the boards meant that Aykroyd and Murphy made contracts to buy oranges at $0.29 a pound in units of a thousand, and also made contracts to sell those exact same oranges at $1.42 a pound, making a profit of 545%. Oranges are traded in units of a thousand pounds, with several units per single contract, and you could hear traders talking about buying and selling hundreds of contracts. It's not exactly known how much they invested with the life savings and the money meant for Beaks, but the current guesstimate is in the tens of millions, possibly over 100 million. What was done to achieve such success (trading commodities on inside information obtained from the government) wasn't illegal back when the movie was made, but when it was made illegal in 2010, it was appropriately named the Eddie Murphy Rule.

Here's the answer to your question about why they were switching the briefcase back after switching the first time. You see, they wanted the briefcase to actually have an incorrect crop report in it when Beeks handed it off the the Duke brothers, not just an empty briefcase. So they switch the briefcases, Billy Rays takes the briefcase to Louis (who most likely has 2 crop reports printed out), then Louis looks over the real report and replaces it with the report that says the opposite, hands the briefcase back to Billy Ray who then goes back so it can be switched back. That way, the Duke brothers get a crop report they think is accurate, and Beeks is never the wiser. If they'd just switched briefcases without a report in it, the Duke brothers would probably have gotten in touch with Beeks again to get a new report, and if that wasn't possible, then they would have proceeded more cautiously and the con would have most likely failed.

In addition to Coming to America, I would also recommend the Beverly Hills Cop series (if you haven't already seen them) for more young Eddie Murphy. If you love the story line and comedy aspect of this movie - the switcheroo/fish out of water/rich vs poor - I would highly recommend Overboard with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. It's another comedy where a rich individual gets a taste of the poor life and learns some life lessons in wonderful, comedic ways of course!
