So Tim was a tenor most of the way through high school. His voice dropped to bass much later than most. He kept singing tenor as well as bass helped him maintain all that range. He also said he loved to sing with his grandparents music. There was high tenors and very low basses. He loved both ranges so it is his gift to us!

Another great song & beautiful cover by Tim. His range is insane. "Since I Don't Have You" was a 1958 hit single for the doo-wop group the Skyliners. Country music singer Ronnie Milsap had a hit with the song in 1991. Tim added 2 extra songs at the end "Sincerely" & "Gloria".

MUST LISTEN!!!! Tim Foust "In My Room" awesome 5 part harmonies by Tim.
@danivansuperstar2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you that he's in chest first with that octave jump and then into falsetto. He's really mastered that, hasn't he? So smooth. He's a conundrum for me, too. I can't really figure out how it's anatomically possible, some of the things that he does. Anyway, thanks for your wonderful reaction. You always hear a lot of things that many reactors miss.

Tim's wardrobe took a hit on this day.... He said that he tore his jeans out climbing a barbed wire fence on the way to filn this video. When the three Tims showed up, you can see it. I like his Clark Kent look in this.

Tim's voice just makes me happy - he's so creative and uber talented and yet always so humble... I totally love this album of his and have just about worn out the CD and anxiously look forward to the next Doo-Wop volume #2.... I also love his collab's with Austin and Peter Hollens... his voice fits so many people and yet he is such an accomplished soloist... His runs on this song are totally amazing!! Keep up the good work my friend! RichieC PS - Can't wait to see all HF in March in Atlanta 2023..... WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to agree with you that although his range is insane, the way he hits those high notes with such clarity and perfect pitch is absolutely crazy. I believe his range is just over 5 octaves and that is while not impossible, very rare. I know only a few singers who can do it so easily. Wow!!! By the way, good to have you back.

I love the contrast on that last note between the highest and lowest registers. It, once again, shows that crazy range he has. Some people are just meant to sing certain genres and Tim Really excels at country and doo wop. He can sing *anything*, but he really shines in those two. Welcome back!
@judithboggs21962 жыл бұрын
So glad you are back in the groove, Mortius. The new mike is pleasant to the eye as well as the ear, and I love backdrop. Tim's do-wop sound is so homey and really takes me back to my early early teens. The falsetto and tenor harmonies are just magical. Maybe even more than his bass notes. We expect him to go low, but ....what the heck was that that came out of your mouth!? Startled me so much I almost mistyped this comment, lol 😂 🥰

Did we tell you this video was filmed in Oregon? At the farm where the Tim Foust and Friends weekend was held - Tim got there, but his luggage didn't, hence the slightly unusual wardrobe. It's such a great performance - Tim's whole doo-wop album really does showcase what he can do, the range, but not just the range, the way he uses it.

Great reaction as always, Mortius. Love how you catch those subtle nuances and your enthusiasm. Also really liking the new setup. Looks like standing up gives you room to move more freely. There are other singers with as much or even more range than Tim, but not all of them sound as natural and the notes they produce aren’t as high quality. That’s why I love Tim’s voice so much.

"Since I Don't Have You" was released by the Skyliners in 1959. I've always loved doo-wop and Tim's solo album is comprised of doo-wop covers, all of the tracks are sung by him. Incidentally, Tim and Austin have started a side project "Sweet and Low Music Co." along with Chris Chatham, Jeffrey East, another man and woman (I'm terrible with names and unfortunately can't recall theirs).

Tim showing off his range in the most beautiful way while still having the coherence and beauty of the song in focus is one of my favourite things. The tone and smoothness of his tenor voice is like warm sunshine on the skin during a beautiful summer evening dusk.

I think Tim is an Enigma. I've never heard the ranges (including falsettos) in my short life that I have from him in the last many years. Now I don't want to cause any distress, but I was raised in west Texas, and would be considered by most as a Red-Neck. I don't shy away from that. I'm proud that my family worked for what they earned. That term doesn't mean what many want it to. On another note...I love when people get immersed in music. A little like math, music is the universal language. Peace, Love!!
