Originally covered by Pet Shop Boys in a TV tribute to Elvis Presley, this re-recorded version became the Christmas No. 1 in the UK in 1987 and spent four weeks atop the Single Chart.
This track is included in SMASH - The Singles 1985 - 2020. The complete collection of Pet Shop Boys singles in chronological order. “SMASH" will be released on Parlophone on June 16th in a variety of formats including 3CD box set, 6LP vinyl box set and digitally, as well as two special limited edition formats available exclusively via the Pet Shop Boys store - 6LP white vinyl box set and 3-cassette box set. A 3CD/2Blu-ray edition will also be released which includes the complete video collection of the singles plus extras.

no one, and i mean no one {other than sinead o'connor maybe, lol} can do a cover version and make it their own as good as this group. although to be fair when i first heard this song i didn't even know it wasn't an original song from them. i loved it instantly and played it incessantly. i was so happy when it got to number one in the uk, as everyone else clearly loved it too, meaning that it was played a lot. we would always know it would come on to dance to in the clubs. the 12" remix is crazy good too. upon listening to the original, and indeed every other version every single time, i always think how tame they are, and i have to come back to this one and play it in order to remember what a great song it is. the other versions pale in comparison, imo. they did a few other a mazin' covers too, but this one is simply outstanding. love and peace to you and all, xxxxxxx

It's been re-released on DVD/Blu-ray double format in 4K, you should totally get it! Though keep in mind it's for UK region, so you'll have to find some way to play it in your own country (if you are not in the UK).
