Streamers are like pop music, or transformers movies. They are, and aim to appeal to the lowest common denominator, who unfortunately simply don't have the capacity to measure talent, and don't have the mental processing power to realize they are misusing their money (these people wouldn't even understand opportunity cost if it were explained to them). The people who sit in their room watching multiple hours of streams per day don't mind that the vast majority of streamers are talentless hacks who just turn on a camera (like vloggers, but without any shooting talent) and sit there playing games badly. They don't mind, and in fact-they appreciate it. It makes them feel like the streamer is "one of them," just another simpleton who has a tenuous grasp on concepts such as gravity, or friction. Clowns entertaining clowns. The friendless conjuring imaginary friends. I see nothing wrong with any of it, and honestly, if we get the dense majority to focus on broadcasting/watching their garbage (and deluding themselves into thinking they are "artists", and/or "entertainers" when in reality the amount of streamers with actual talent/charisma can be counted on ones fingers), then the rest of us can slow down on making movies, games, and other art/entertainment for these people. I see it as a win-win. Oh and we get these "Twitch fails," which is the modern day America's Funniest Home Videos: A bunch of dummies screwing up. Schadenfreude made flesh. P.S. Meanwhile, we live in a golden age of intellectual/entertainment content. Science podcasts? Check. YMH? Check. Actual musicians streaming on youtube during las plaguas? Check. Top notch short films/VFX? Check. Most comedians have their own show right now, and I only see it ramping up from here.
