Sheena Easton was "new and improved" with this song and the album it came from - A PRIVATE HEAVEN. It was the 2nd single release from it. The first being the Billboard Top 10 "Strut". Her association with Prince during the mid-to-late 80s helped to invigorate Sheena's image and sound in the pop music world. Sheena always had a roller-coaster ride on the Billboard charts - big ups followed by big downs, then big ups again. She never got boring to me during her US chart years (1981-1991).

Unlike most of Prince's proteges (which Sheena was not, of course; already a star in her own right when their worlds joined), Sheena had talent & a voice. She was sure to elevate any purple contributions above & beyond what the Prince girls could have done. Look for "101" on Sheena's The Lover In Me (1988) for another Prince-composed, performed & produced gem that makes even this pale in comparison. "101" is definitely one of the better songs Prince ever gave away.

Sheena's a damn good vocalist, very underated, what she did with her facial and body movements that oozed sexuality, most women would have to take off their clothes to get the same responses! But I always wondered did Sheena win this song by default, I'm curious if Vanity was the original inspiration. It's funny, Sheena's transformation from morning train to sugar walls is kinda like Olivia's Sandy in Grease!
