@ashanab.71056 жыл бұрын
Exactly. A year late but this needs to be said. I fucking hated him at first, I wondered why the writers decided to write such an annoying toxic character. But after the scene with Naomi where he stopped automatically when said so, and this scene when his dad basically broke his heart is when Cook became my fave because I finally understood y he was the way he was. He's broken. He went from being "I'm Cook" in the beginning of 2nd gen, to "I'm Nothing" at the very end of it (albiet he still says he's cook right after that, but tht doesn't take from the fact he still saying he views himself as nothing, which is very heavy). I feel he's the best written and simutaneously most tragic (yes even more than Effy IMO, i feel she fucked herself over wit most of the problems she had, while cook was fucked from the start) character we got, out of skins. Think about it. He had a dad that didn't wanted him and was willing to kill him when Cook was no longer use to him, a mom who loved her art more than her son, a brother he had to get away from in order for him to not be influenced and have a better chance at life than he did, in love with a girl who used him and never loved him back, was homeless and on the run for his entire life, lost his best friend without saying goodbye, and lived with the biggest regret of killing someone (Freddie's killer), instead of letting justice handle it (even tho i would've killed the bastard too, but he still felt guilty abt it in season 7). Like holy shit, considering everything that happened to Cook I applaud him for not becoming heartless and still being able to care for others, since ppl usually become heartless after being the ones who cared too much (like cook did wit his dad mom and effy). But no despite all of his shit, we see Cook comfort Naomi, let it be known to JJ that he loves him, and that he loves Freddie too (despite their rocky relationship), and even sacrificed his values by killing someone, just to avenge his death. So sorry for rambling but wow, now that I'm looking back, Cook was a fucking masterpiece of a character. Big ups to the actor who portrayed him too. Out of all the fuck ups Skins writers made *deep breath* (not giving us more time to see more of chris and jal's relationship, killing freddie like his death was unnecessary, giving naomi fucking cancer, having sid never find Cass, having thomas cheat on Panda wit some irrelevant, JFC just Michelle's character in general, and just the entirety of gen3 basically) *exhale* having Cook be the last person we see before the skins series is over forver, was not one of them.

Eh. Mike Bailey is great but his reactions when someone gets hurt is terrible (like in the Michelle episode where Jal pinches Chris' bollocks and he just goes, 'Oh, that's got to hurt!' like he's some sort of wrestling commentator). Also Emily's (I can't remember her actress' name) anger delivery comes across as cringy, especially her first line "Get the fuck out of there bitch!". Luckily I got to love her since then but not the best introduction.

I'm really bad at remembering the series and how many each group got, but, if I'm saying this correctly 1 through 4, are the best ones. I hated the ones after (except for "Fire" etc) so anything with tony, sid, jal, Michelle, Cassie, anwar, Maxie, Chris, Effie, Freddie, Emily, naomi, Katie, panda, tomo, cook, jj etc, were the best episodes, and series. Just my opinion
@iliketrains34956 жыл бұрын
I'm up to 4-4 and don't plan to watch any beyond the second gen but I can say that killing Naomi was a TERRIBLE decision after all her acclaim she recieved in the second gen. Edit: Watched series 5 and the first couple of series 6, 5 was decent but the only characters I really liked were Rich, Alo and Grace and gave up with 6 after the latter died
