It's not only that we don't wash eggs in Europe (and by that destroying their protective shell against infection), but it is also a more closely monitored and controlled situation around Salmonella, preventing disease to spread in the first place, and proper hygiene and living conditions even on the worst chicken farms.

Tip for anyone playing: Make all your products rounded to the nearest 50 to save having to click so much giving back change

Retail is a weird beast, sometimes the markup is 3%, sometimes 200%, especially on small items, since the interaction costs more than you make. Those small corner shops have such a high overhead, you pay a lot of markup to compensate for low relative volume, renting costs, and often sub standard cooling solutions. This game makes me want to book a flight to Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, etc., because that's literally how 95% of all those mini markets look and feel like, including the supply boxes just stuffed into the far end of the room ;)

I remember watching a series of "Shoppe Keep" quite a bit of years ago. It had rough graphics, but was really fun: medieval fantasy setup, where you sell potions and equipment, and alike; and customers are going to their adventures off-screen, and return to you with more money to buy new stuff, while retaining already bought equipment - becoming quite equipped actually. And also fend off shoplifters with lightning power! And also get fined when you wrongly "accuse" someone with you "zzzap!" - yes, you can kill innocent customers))

A helpful tip: there area a limited number of box sizes and with a right click with the mouse over the correct product for the box, you can actually put back the item from the shelf into the box helping with rearranging or managing shelves.

You can take products off the shelf if you walk up to the shelves with an empty box 😊

That person that came in and paid for the flour with $100 reminds me of when I worked at a drive thru. There was this woman in a fancy as heck car who came around every Wednesday and always ordered a 99p cheeseburger, but she'd always try to pay with a £50 note and then we pissed off when she's told she can't pay for it with that sized note (When I worked there it had to be a minimum of £10 spend before you could pay with a 50). Basically she was just trying to get change because she gets paid in cash and £50 notes are hard to get rid of unless you're buying big. This happened every goddamn week, she'd either drive off pissed off and we'd have to cancel her order or she'd get her way because the person serving isn't aware, then she'd throw the cheeseburger out the window onto the grass verge as she left. Why she didn't just go down the post office or to the numerous arcades to get change is beyond me.

The reason for most items being priced X.99 is to make it look cheaper, even if it's not really. If something is $5.00, it's $5, but if something is 4.99, then it's $4.

it's weird they way they use 50c coins, they are less common then a 2$ bills. And I've only ever handled 50$ and 100$ bills in Vegas, where they come out of cash machines instead of 20$ bills.
