the very first experiment on this stream, panning half of the overtones left and half right, is already so darn creative. no idea how these ideas come to you but i love it lol

and then swapping them every oscillation! i thought it was going in the direction of audio rate modulation and was wondering how you could do that in serum but manually drawing the wavetables was so much cooler hahaha. so sick!

Serum 1.368 table editor allows you to swap between osc a and b in the editor without having to jump out to the main UI -- just in case you weren't aware ;) BTW, this is very useful -- I've recently taken a step back from my analog gear to spend more time in wave table synths due to capabilities like this. Appreciate you sharing.

I'm doing a unit on complex and fourier analysis at the moment, the mathematical study of overtones, and I believe some of what you are experimenting with can be written up as integrals and solved to give you things like 0 correlation, equal balance, etc!!! Especially when you talked about having the panning swap each oscilation, which would make a very interesting fourier series.

5:54 Now I’m dreaming about a mid-side panning knob in a synth… It would open some possibilities like panning odds +100% side and evens −100% side. To mimic that with normal panning one would need two oscillators at minimum too, but only if there are tools to change phases of some harmonics en masse. Otherwise a clean way to do that would require _four_ oscs (odds left, odds right, evens left, evens right, two of them with reversed polarity).
@raven-a7 ай бұрын
That harmonic panned saw wave sounds like something you would make with Razor... I think that's how it mostly made sounds wide, can't remember the name of the "effect" that did that. But VR is kinda wrong saying it's not different "voices" on each side, it's pretty much the same as putting two different wavetables on each side, and in fact each side has it's own wavetable with it's own sound (the weird half saw sounds, I'm personally not a big fan, just remember Razor did this like 13 years ago, nothing new, except none knows Razor nowadays lol)

Hi VR, i got any Id for you, a concept video Where you start a track from scratch and keep making video on it until the song is out. Like everytime you work on it, you do an episod. I mean, that could be great for us first, because we will see another project from start to end. Even for the technical part but also for the creative process. And for you, it could be a good format of video, like one per week or more (or less) and, it could be a strong promotion for the track, build the hype about it because people are gonna wait the end to ear it fully on their phone. Not here to say "DO IT" but a smaller one, do it.. lol just an idea that could be more content for us and something cool for a release track for you. Huge fan, hopefully you gonna take it the right way, i dont have better id than you, i was just thinking about it Love
