This isn't really (much of) a breakup song. It's more about life that's why it is so relatable. Car crashed (he's wounded, but he says he's ok) then exploded (maybe he feels too much abt life and stuff, it's hard to take in) TVs (repeating scenarios, like how we think of all the struggles, etc.) Chairs (empty, upside down: no one else is there... or maybe you can sit beside and just be silent, which is sometimes more comforting than actually talking to the person trying to appease him.) Hallway (isolation, conflict of wanting to be alone and yet feeling the loneliness) Empty bottles (empty feeling) Luggages (piled up: emotions that have become somewhat too heavy) It's saying "I'm ok" when in reality you are not. But sometimes, people comforting you doesn't really feel too 'comforting' esp the shallow ones, those who are not really sincere. It's like "poison" instead. In an article by Billboard: "According to the blog of the act’s company YG Entertainment, B.I. described the song’s message as being based on, “A person’s mindset of wanting to cry more when told, ‘Don’t cry’ and feeling more uneasy when asked, ‘Are you ok?’” Sometimes, it is embracing and understanding your own sadness that eventually makes you feel ok! Somehow, the repetitive "I'M OK" in the lyrics also symbolizes how the person tries to comfort himself, that it's really gonna be okay... eventually. Also, the lines "You've broken every piece of me when you laughed out, as if my sadness didn't mean anything to you" - not abt love, but for those who try to invalidate other's feelings... why people who feel sad and pained choose to take everything in. Not all people will take what they feel seriously. THIS IS THE REALITY AND IT'S SAD. I AM AMAZED, iKON! THE SONG IS WELL-WRITTEN, MELODY IS LIT, AND THE MV IS VERY MEANINGFUL. YOU DID WELL!

Not only this song is inspiring but iKON as a whole group inspired me. Before i knew them, i kinda felt like kpop idols were all the same, showing happy smiles and faces and being happy 24/7. It kinda felt weird, and some of them always seemed unreal, like.. you just can't always be perfect and happy.. we are not perfect that's what makes us humans.. And that's what iKON are. They are the most genuine idols i've known. They get angry, they are brutally honest with each other, they say dirty things, they are awkward, they are too sassy sometimes, they talk about things shamelessly, their fights, their love for wine and soju ect and that's what makes them.. humans? when i first watched iKON on Weekly Idol i remember my jaw always dropped.. i was really surprised to see idols talk like them, i liked them immediately. I love how genuine they are, and i can recognise my flaws in theirs, i can see my awkwardness, craziness and just humanity in them. They made me realize idols aren't supposed to be all smiley and cute at all. And with this song, they show again how genuine they are. iKON always speak from their hearts. They dont only tell us to be ourselves, don't care about others without them doing it. They actually do it and that's the whole point. .. They dont only talk, they act and show the exemple, that's their best quality. I will always be here to support them.

I feel that way about them too! They feel so unique in that sense, at first i didn’t like because of things that I had read about them, but once I started watching their content I realized they’re just not afraid to show their flaws, and they try to be their most genuine selves which must be really off putting for some people... with most kpop idols I feel like I’m seeing one of their facades and it’s hard for me to truly connect with them, but ikon really makes me feel comfortable and at ease, their youthfulness and how funny they are reminds me of my group of friends from high school which feels really nice and makes me feel close to them☺️

For the information of others, this song is actually more than just a love song. This song refers to what iKON was experiencing when they were struggling in 2017, when many left the fandom, when many wrote bad articles about them. iKON mentioned that Im ok talks about how sometimes in life, when we experience loneliness or sadness that we don't understand, people's comfort to us becomes poison rather than comfort. And we sometimes hate that we are comforted because we feel like they are pitying us for going through something difficult. And we already feel so small, that feeling being pitied at just makes us feel worse. That is why sometimes we tell them that we're ok, that they don't need to worry, and that even though we choose to be silent. That even though we choose to not let others comfort us, we still end up feeling lonely. YG always had this "rebellious bad boy/girl" image so they were always the target of media.
