A trip on the 407: $40 💸.
A stunt driving ticket: Immediate 30-day licence suspension, immediate 14-day vehicle impoundment, a fine between $2,000 and $10,000 as well as six demerit points upon conviction 💰.
Honking at someone who got pulled over after passing you at 180 km/h: Priceless.

Every new drivers think they are race car drivers when driving in a straight line, all of them chicken out when you put them in race circuits when they need to make sharp turns after turns in high speed. Everybody can drive fast in a straight line most drivers will find it boring but only inexperience or starters think it’s thrilling. I prefer comfort driving in day to day. Skill and thrill driving go to the race circuit find difficulties of your choice, what is there is a straight line

The radar unit is capable of reading police vehicle speed, so when a vehicle passes the police vehicle by say 80 kph, the radar unit adds the police vehicle speed and how much faster the subject vehicle is traveling together to provide the officer with the subject vehicle speed.

the 100 speed limit for 407 is completely stupid. Nobody goes that slow. Average speed is 115-130Km per hour. How could sections on 401 2/3 lane be 110KM/H and 407 toll with 5 lanes be 100KM/H? Bump it up to at least 120, In this case it still would be stunt driving, but if he was going 160 he would have just gotten a speeding ticket and not have his vehicle hijacked. On second note, its really easy to lose track between 140 and 170 on a highway like 407, especially in a nice car that drives smooth. These stupid questions as to why were you going so fast, its not deliberate in most case, its human nature. Open road, press gas pedal. Why does the Autobahn not have these limits, except in certain sections.
@harrybaals2549

1. Higher speeds would require teaching proper lane discipline, which 90% of drivers are too stupid to manage in this country, and YRP refuses to enforce it anyway 2. Less revenue to embezzle. Municipal governments need to pay for their "office upgrades" and "consultancy fees" somehow To answer your question about German highways, I would imagine it's because in Europe, they actually have standards before giving you a license, and the police actually use their time to go after dangerous drivers instead of sitting on empty highways waiting to ticket people going 40 over causing no danger to anyone so that they can make it look like they contribute to society
@Xpired_PCP
@Xpired_PCP 2 ай бұрын
That's not true. The maximum speed before an automatic stunt charge is appied is 150 km/h. Even on 110 km/h highways, the stunt driving threshold is still 150 km/h (40 km/h over the limit). Even if the limit was raised to 120 km/h, again, the cap is 150 km/h where at and above 150 km/h, you're going to be charged with stunt. On that note about the autobahn, German driving culture is super strict and usually cost license holders THOUSANDS of euros to obtain and maintain their license. They also have the vehicle regulations (like mandatory seperated, amber turn signals - no red turn signals, and no turn signals combined with the break light) that helps allow for super high speed traffic (no limits) in the rural areas and a 130 km/h limit in the suburbs of most German cities. Canada and the US don't have the culture that respects current traffic laws, our driver education system is too dumbed down, it's super cheap and you don't really have to work to obtain your license, lastly we don't have the vehicle regulations that make high speeds of 140+ km/h safer.

Going more than 125 KPH is excessive. The time saved to where you are going is incremental, maybe 5 -10 minutes. No one needs to be going over this speed. Any crash over this speed is almost immediate fatality. People forget the laws of physics and play games with their lives and others around them.
@nag2129

Actually if the speed limit was 120 and he was doing 160 he would still get a stunt driving charge. 40 and + kmhr is grounds, I know math is hard.

I hope Police also take it very seriously when someone contacts them about a driver who speeds even when they have the license plate. I read on reddit that someone reported a driver speeding, has it on video and even the license plate and police said they won't do anything because they dont know who the driver was and that they dont know if the person had been drinking or not.

Good job, YRP! I'm guessing from the voice this was a mature individual of at least 35 years. As a G2 driver he is new to Canadian roads. Having driven on them since 1984, I have noticed a marked increase in the number of drivers from other countries with driving histories. Histories that give them the confidence I'm sure... but not the knowledge they need to travel our highways and byways properly. So stick it to 'em YRP! Teach them so we can all be safe again.

How is the limit for 407 is 100kmh when it’s wide open 4-6 lanes with barely any cars around then we have 2 lanes 401 and part of busy QEW 110kmh? It should be made to at least 125kmh. In some states they have a limit of 75mph which is about 120 on a busier hwy. This is nothing, but a money grabber for the city/province.
