I think if there are video ideas like these that half the members will refuse to do, then they shouldn't surprise plan big shit like this without finding out first. This video was fairly boring without Michael and Syd carrying the commentary throughout. As a bigger guy myself I can understand Scarra not wanting to do that shit on camera, but Lily/Poki etc not doing it simply because of heights is a bit meh. Poki already gets away without not doing anything half the time as it is.

usually once you're on the course itself, it becomes a physical challenge with all the balancing and the mental strain goes away because you'd be too wrapped up in the challenge to think about the heights, you know? i have a debilitating fear of heights, i can't even stand by ledges because i get sick but i tried one of these once and i gotta say it was an absolute blast!

I think the hardest part of this was definitely the heat. Some of these courses are actually quite common I’ve done a few that were 30-50cm off the ground and they really aren’t that difficult, it’s just the increased height that throws people off. Although going through some of those without using your hands is a little insane imo since you would need really good balance and control

The act of learning to trust your equipment is a difficult one, to make your brain understand even if you fall you wont die is a tough bridge to get past at heights and we can see it here even Michael at times struggles, holding on too much when its not needed drains energy but there are rope holds, its just holding your own equipment/fall arrest rope that was disqualified.

Aren't these harnesses meant to have two separate clips so that you always have one affixed while switching the other over? This actually seems a little dangerous

i'm not familiar with this exact system, but usually ropes courses with only one clip means that clip is always attached to the course in some way. with the two clips (they're called lobster claws), that system relies on you paying enough attention at all times to make sure you don't unclip both of them at once. with one clip systems (the one in the video, there's another type called Smartsnaps), you eliminate any possibility of becoming detached from the course while you're on it. - a former ropes course facilitator
