try both in the shop the GS has the option of a lower seat the klr is just a high seat that most of the time you will add a cushion to

Great video and great track. Almost all kinds of terrain: rocks, sand, mud. Ive ridden both klr and g-gs 1 for one year each and would say that gs is more safe off-road. That's because klr weigh too much and has a sit height where you can barely put a full foot on surface. The seat height alone doesn't matter much if the bike is around 100-140 kg. But if you try to catch a fully tanked klr with his 200 kg from falling, it's hardly manageable. The g-gs is not much lighter, but with a low seat hight and weight distributed lower, it's way more controllable. The only advantage of klr off road is a greater wheelsize and higher ground clearance, so you can drive over a thicker fallen tree for example

Hello from Argentina , now I have a honda nx 400 and would like to change for any of these two bikes and I hesitate even . From what I see on the forums kawa consume more fuel but is more ready for the off , my bike is used for on / off but would like to have a cruising speed of 120-130 and rest to speed . What you think is the best bike aside you're the owner of a bmw

I think the intense music is because it is so scary riding those bikes at that break-neck speed through that challenging terrain. THOSE AREN'T DIRT BIKES!

Why is it the camera is never rolling when you do something cool?! It's like the instant you switch the camera off, something ultra-badass happens and then you have nothing to prove it. It happens to me all the time too. lol

@aussybum The KLR isn't super fast or anything but it will do 80 all day and I've had mine at 115ish. So yea, as long as you aren't running from the police the duration of your trip it will keep up. Bring lots of oil. lol I've been all over the east coat on my klr. :)

I'm sure they will, but personally I would go with the KLR as far as midrange adv bikes.

First things first.Put a set of knobbies on Dunlopd606 are great and their are many others.I have owned both a Dakar gs and 2 Klr's and the Klr is slightly better off road but the Gs has a much more solid front end and braking on the road and off.The main reason the Klr is better off road is it'lower weight.Both great machines and with a capable rider and tires I have followed the dirt bikes with plates anywhere they roam.

@goingGoingLost Nice vid. Yes, good tires can make a huge difference but even 606's won't help the GS guy much if he keeps insisting to ride on the slimy center ridge of the road. My guess is he slid off the center ridge a more than the video shows ;) Just sayin'

This isn't even close to the capability of the KLR offroad. I've had my old girl back in some of the nastiest bush you can imagine and she performs very well. Not fast, but she'll get you anywhere you need to go and if you lay it down, rest assured it's all you. The GS is nice but to pretty to be in the woods for me. Parts are expensive.

But the GS is Fuel injected has three times the stopping power of the KLR, Stock. Neither of which The KLR Will ever get from Kawasaki. Trust me I had a brand new 09 KLR for 4 years, Now I am on a Sertao. Not looking back. The KLR was is a great bike, But Until Kawasaki fixes the Doohickey, Thermo-Bob, Shit for Brakes, Piss poor suspension. I will not be on one. Sorry hate to dis a Fellow KLR guy. But Its just the Facts. Three year warranty on the BMW also. Life expectancy not enough.
