This was a very informative video. Thank You. I have a question: I have a Dali offset-lithograph that's beautifully matted and framed. I KNOW it's not an expensive piece. The matt/frame is probably worth more. Should my off-set print be of higher quality than the prints being sold on amazon, ebay where it's being printed from a computer? Does the process make it a few dollars more, or could computer prints be better in duplicating Dali's images? Thanks again.

Inkjet has surpassed offset when it comes to detail and color. Inkjet printers use much more vibrant colors and often have more colors than just CMYK. Certain colors like deep blue and bright orange are simply not possible with the offset CMYK process. Also, the screen (the little dots that make up the image) used in offset printing is usually coarser than the microscopic tiny dots used in inkjet printing. For limited runs of art prints, inkjet is better. However if you need thousands of copies, inkjet is way too slow and offset is the best choice. Once the press is all set up it's hundreds times faster than inkjet.

It might be an issue with monitor colour calibration?
@abuebrahim1588 жыл бұрын
which monitor best for CMYK designing?
@janinmendoza18547 жыл бұрын
First: color calibration for your computer: you can use one from this site calman.spectracal.com/ Some programs there are for free and can help you calibrating your monitor, or you can buy a true color monitor. The second: normally illustrator gives you the possibility to choose a CMWK color (this part is more tricky). You always need to choose a CMYK color that is close to 10, 20, etc. So it would be 10C 20M 60Y 10K because normally very few machines can print numbers that end in 5 (15C 25M 65Y 15K). It is not possible to use a colors ending in other numbers (12C 25M 67Y 18K). When it ends in any other number that is not close to a 10th, the machine will move the value to the closest one to the 10th. For example: 12C 25M 67Y 18K = 10C 20M 70Y 20K. So in the end the print result will be darker or lighter and the tones will be completely different. PS: I'm a graphic designer too and I learnt this from my supervisor in a company where I did an internship.It is a golden advice. XD

In the world of Art, is a Lithograph more or less valuable than an offset litho? Thanks for the video.

The ink is attracted to all areas of the plate,it’s the water that is attracted to a certain area then the areas that don’t attract water take ink.

“You can actually achieve any other color that you want to use for your printed job.” That is not true. There are thousands of colors that cannot be recreated using CMYK inks.
