OFFSHORE - Back in the days 2/2

Grew up as a son of an offshore powerboat racer. Raced the first Baja v-bottom in 1990. B-15. That boat ran 88 mph. It was bad ass boat. 454’s punched 60 over with dart heads, four bolt mains and all roller with an Edlebrock performer RPM intake with Holly carbs. DYNO 596 HP. Helped my Dad build all of our engines. Had 4 in rotation.

I just came across this, so very awesome, thank you PJ. I grew up around around Offshore Racing. At 37 sec in, S-9 Caliente was raced by my Dad. This is a blast from the past. Multi year Championship boat. I have a 2'x 3' framed picture hanging in my hallway to this day and a 1980 Championship checkered flag that was presented to my dad hanging in my garage. Thank you for the incredible trip down memory lane. I agree Popeye's was legit. Al Copeland in the 50' cat w/ four big block Chevy's was a heck of a nice guy.

Great racing from back in the day! I like the new modern courses but it's good to see this kind of balls-out racing. You had to be an ironman to survive this,
