I think I seen you at that fishing hole one of the days you were there. I am always amazed at you guys that come out on jet skis. bigger nuts that I my friend. The first rig you were at we call the 9mile. That rig sometimes pays big, and other times pays nothing. I've seen a cubera snapper caught off that rig, which is rare around here. The second location you were at is the Laura. 23 miles out. I think I saw you there the day before. There was a fella fishing an aluminum cabin boat there too. That day was a good day to fish there, according to the guy in the aluminum boat, they were catching nice cow snapper there off whole squid. We limited snapper there the day before. Anyway, we pulled up, and I didn't want to encroach on ya'll, so we went out to dunbar rock instead. We got into some mai that day. FYI, and you may know this. That little snapper you vented didn't appear to need vented. I hate venting fish, so I keep from it as much as possible. Also, to keep whole fish from tangling in your line when using them as bait, cut the tail off, or put your weight at the bottom of your leader, and use a T knot mid ways up the leader. Happy fishing, be safe, and great video!!

Thanks for watching the video. The guys on the aluminum cabin boat were family members. They knew of that place, “Laura”, so I just followed them so I could mark it for next time. The only reason I vented that small fish was because there was another about that size floating earlier so I didn’t want to take a chance with this one. Yes, I went after the floater and was able to vent it so he/she could get down too. Hope to see you out there some day. Stop by and say hello if you get the chance. And don’t worry about any encroachment, as long as everybody is polite it usually isn’t a problem.

@@texaspwcfishing6676 I seen him at Froggys, and was asking if he did any good fishing. Then asked him what he thought about the guy on the jetski (you) being out that far. He said you were with him, and told me your age, and a little bit about you. I didn't realize ya'll were family. That's way cool!! Small world my friend!! Maybe I'll see you around POC some time!! I'm glad I ran across your video

When you moved you ski, your kill switch wasn't tethered to you and your life jacket wasn't on. You also had a rod in one hand that was dropped to the bottom as you engaged the ski into gear. I was in a situation where I was 6 miles offshore and lost my balance on a small sailboat and didn't have a lifeline attached and went overboard with the sail out. I barely grabbed onto the rear of the boat as it sped by. That could have been an ugly situation as my radio was in the boat. Things happen and don't want to see you in a bad situation. I know you can't fish well with the kill switch tethered but I would certainly recommend attaching it if you turn the ski on and engage it. Safe fishing!

Hello and thank you for watching. Yes, I’m the early days of learning how to fish on the ski and what to and what not to do I would move the ski around without the kill switch attached. I took off my life jacket that day because it was extremely hot and not much wind that far out. Since then I leave my life jacket on and usually have the kill switch attached when I move the ski. Thank you, Jeff

Hello Jeff. Enjoying the videos (subbed.) what’s your opinion on using the craft for inshore in the laguna madre? Targeting reds, specks and flounder.
@jeffjohnson674
@jeffjohnson674 Жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for watching and subscribing. I have used the ski many times for inshore fishing too. Just have to be careful about how shallow you go. I’ve been as low as 2 feet but you run the chance of sucking up stuff from the bottom. I try to stay in 3 feet or more, makes it easier to get out when I need to. I have had to push the ski out a couple of times because I went too shallow. I hope to get some more videos on soon. The cold weather in the Dallas area makes getting on the lakes not fun. However soon I will be relocating to Corpus so I will be doing a bunch more fishing. I’ve also installed a new transducer so I will have side scan and ClearView down scan. Looking forward to the new capabilities. Good luck and stay safe. Jeff

Thank you. When I started this channel I was hoping it would do alright. But when I wasn’t catching anything I began to wonder if I was going down the wrong path. But I have to thank everybody who has subscribed and watched my videos, if it wasn’t for all of you I would not be doing so well. And I would not be inspired to keep going out there trying to catch more fish and making more videos. Thanks again, Jeff

Hello and thanks for watching. I have been slowly updating the site as I go. I haven’t been able to get out on the ski since August, weather up here has been too cold and I’ve been too busy, life happens. I’ll be doing more fishing this summer, I’m relocating to Corpus shortly. As I get more trips in and get some free time I’ll put more on the site. If there is something you think would be interesting to include please let me know. Thanks again, Jeff

They say not to run in less than three feet of water but if you are on plane can you run across more shallow grass flats like at South Bay?
@texaspwcfishing6676
@texaspwcfishing6676 Жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for watching the video. I personally have done that, been on plane and run in shallow water. However, I ran that course numerous times and have the route plotted on my GPS so I know where to stay away from. If you have not run that area before I would suggest making a couple of trial runs during high tide to make sure you have a good route before you run it at speed during low tide. Now this is just what I do, it is in now way a suggestion to go against what BRP puts out in the operators manual.

Good evening and thanks for watching. The first set of rigs is about 10 miles from the end of the big jetties. Depending on the seas might take about 30 minutes. There are some further out.

How far can you go on a single tank of gas on the FishPro? Good video, that is keeping it Realistic...
@texaspwcfishing6676
@texaspwcfishing6676 2 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for watching. I have been 25 miles out so about a 55-60 round trip so far and have put about 15.5-16 gallons of fuel back in. I’m guessing I could get another 10-15 miles out of the tank but I don’t want to chance it alone or without a spare gas can. Now all of that is based on wave conditions and speed. The slower you go the shorter distance you can travel and the faster you go the more fuel you use to maintain the speed. You have to find the fine line between keeping the ski on plane and not going so fast that you burn too much fuel. I have noticed that when going at slower speeds, say 10-20 mph, my distance is shorter than at higher cruising speeds, such as 25-35 mph. And that makes since because at those higher speeds the ski is on plane so less of the hull is in the water creating less drag. At the lower speeds the ski is not on plane so more of the hull is in the water causing the engine to work harder to push all that water out of the way so the ski can get through. I hope that helps. Thanks again. Jeff

Hello and thank you for watching. I have a handheld marine radio that I always carry. Along with that I always let someone know I am going offshore. It is either someone local or my wife. When I get back within cell phone range I let them know I am safe and headed back in. Good luck and hope to see you out there soon.

That big water scares the crap outta me, but damn, if that don't look like good fishing........ Taking delivery this next week of the Trophy with all the tech crap they could throw at it. Was supposed to be, like, March, for delivery...... I'd happily kick this year right in the sack, thus far. Here's hoping the SeaDoo puts me less in sack kicking mood and someone has to sandblast the grin off my mug, huh? World class freshwater fishing all around me, busted up enough I can't stagger around the shores with anything resembling a margin of safety anymore, decided it was time to waste a buttload of cash on fuel. Will keep watching you. Damned saltwater dudes scare me! More at home surrounded by desert, rattlers, and scrub brush than out on the big water! My luck, new world record catch would mistake the Trophy for a tasty snack....... Keep up the good work, will be watching.

Thank you for watching. The first time I headed offshore I was terrified by the waves but that lasted about 10 seconds after I realized just how stable the Fish Pro Trophy really is. Good luck with the fresh water in your area. If you ever want to try the Texas Gulf Coast please let me know and I will be happy to try to meet up and go offshore or out on a bay with you. Thanks again, Jeff

120 miles plus on it, nearly full break in hours, been organizing fishing gear and restrung the rods I'll carry with me....... should get some fishing in between now and cold weather. 2 trollers with leaded line, 3 weights of spinning outfits....... without a rod bandolero or sumpin, I'm about outta room! heh heh heh 52 mph so far top speed. Lots of fuel, lots of me, lots of gear and not full hours in...... gets spicy in a hurry at that speed tho, with wakes
